Mine also.
Went with my brother and his two kids to a stadium tour, gettin on for 20 years ago now. We were just in the tunnel looking out in to the pitch, and as we were heading back, Davy Hickson appeared. We waited for everyone to leave and asked if he'd sign an autograph for me arl fella.
He couldn't have been happier to sign.
"To big Brian. All the best. Dave Hickson". Me arl fella was like a kid at Christmas when we gave it to him.
I wasn't fortunate to see him play and so had to rely on stories and news reports, but a true club legend and genuinely lovely man

On what turned out to be my dad's last trip home in 2007, I took him on the tour. Dave Hickson was our guide. When he met us was one of the few times I saw my arl fella at a loss for words and Mr. Hickson was every bit the gentleman I'd heard he was.

My dad told me about a game (sorry, can't remember who the opponents were), when their hard case centre half had been battling with Davy for the whole match and both had given as good as thy got. At one corner, Davy shoulder charged the centre half and bounced him off the goalpost and put him on his arse. The centr half was so angry he kicked Davy on the shin with the heel of his boot, drawing blood! Apparently Hickson, looked down at him, smiled, patted him on the head, then went up with the other centre half when the corner came in :)

Davie Hickson, the only Idol I ever had in football and Everton have had some great players and most of them better than
Davie, but none of them loved Everton like Davie did and I never loved any of them more than Davie.Anyone from that era
loved the man and the way he played and strived for the Blues.

I ran on the pitch at Huddersfield when the players were kicking in, he was playing for Huddersfield, I was about fouteen, I asked him " when are you coming back to us Davie". " The second after they ask me " he replied. Loved him, in the first minute of the game Davie scored what turned out to be the winner, still loved him, still do, went to his funeral at The
Anglican Cathedral where he was clapped and cheered out to be taken to his place of rest. I could go on all day about the
man, much simpler to say " There will never be another Davie.

Evidently he was sold because of his disciplinary record - he was a rough and tumble who gave 100% buy his autobiography book

I borrowed this to my older brother and he stated what a book , and only if dad could have read this book!

Anfield was crowded for his home debut at the end the reds were moaning of the crush of all the blues fans in there watching him score two?
My late father was one of those many blues who were there the letters of protest that went in when he was sold!

Against Aston Villa, Joey,Liverppol won 2-1, Davie scored the two, Peter McFarland scored Villa's reply, both teams clapped Davie off the pitch, he had left Everton for Villa, only played twelve games for them before he was sold to Huddersfield Town. After that Villa game I waited for Everton's score to be announced over the tannoy, wish I hadn't, we got trounced by Newcastle United 8-2, that's eight - two.

better than 10-4 v Spurs with a young Dunlop in goal who I believe had a mare spurs striker bobby smith had a field day!
its are biggest goals against over recent decades poor Jimmy Harris scored a hattrick for us

Joey, it might also be the biggest aggregate score in an English top division match, it was also used in the top Detective
Programme at that current time, Highway Patrol with Broderick Crawford in the lead role, the Police used the saying10-4
over and out, imagine the stick we got off the red noses!!!!!!

Yes my older brother related that to me the red lot going round impersonating the 10 - 4 over and out time and time again!

My mum and dad both rated him the best. They were of a generation that went to Everton one week and Liverpool the next, but in no doubt where their loyalties lay.
Both said that him and Wally Fielding always gave their all for the Blues.

As others have said he was my dad's idol. He just looked heroic and from what I hear he would gladly spill blood for the cause. I had the pleasure to meet him a couple of times and he was a gentleman and a passionate evertonian. A genuine everton legend in my opinion
