Darron Gibson

He made a mistake and has been punished for it. As with any other offender let him serve his sentence and then get on with his life and his job.

If the incident were serious enough he would have been given a custodial sentence, but it obviously wasn't and a high profile footballer like Gibson may achieve far more by doing some worthwhile community service than spending the taxpayers money in jail.

The issue about his drinking is a different matter again, does he drink out of frustration from being almost continually injured or does he drink and his football suffers from a lack of professionalism. I don't think any of us knows the answer to that but I am sure the club has an opinon.

Either way, Gibson is now heading into the very best years of his career and he needs to be available and he needs to play. I don't know if it appropriate to say he is drinking in the last chance saloon but it surely is apt.

My comment has been taken out of context FFS.

No it is not acceptable and never has been acceptable to drink drive and run anyone over.

In the past there was more lenience shown towards public figures who offend ie. big Dunc. I stand by my previous comment that Gibson should be heavily disciplined by the club.

In future read the thread before taking a single response out of context.

i read it, and i stand my previous comment. also if i done that, i would be sacked from my job immediatly. not heavily disciplined. hes a role model.

My first reaction was that he should be sacked. Not for drinking but for drink driving and leaving the scene of an accident. He is in a privileged position and can afford the best help available.
On reflection, I don't know what he is doing to try and sort himself out, I would like to think the club knows what it is doing and the only reason he is not sacked is that he is doing his very best to get himself back on track.
If is has shown remorse and is talking the necessary steps to get sorted, keep him, if not sack him.

I keep repeating myself to different people so apologies if it's dull. Would you sack john stones if it'd have been him ,Or would you have transfer listed him never playing him again ? Or been more understanding , I presume you'd also remove Ferguson from the coaching staff ?

I think the point is, he has had an appalling fitness record since signing, lifestyle has an enormous amount to do with fitness in todays ultra fast league. He is a p**s head and this is the last straw, he is a waster get shut.

If it were Ferguson or Stones I'd have blamed the cyclists.

Fantastic point, i didnt say sack him once btw i just said i would be from my job. however even Gibson who brings nothing to this side anymore shouldnt just be sacked, for whatever reason he isnt in the right frame of mind, we shold try and help him. if it or any other incidents happen, yes he shoud be sold straight away. everyone makes mistake. the fact gibbo wore no shoes is abit mental aswell

Thanks , it seems many are suggesting he should get the sack but I find it hard to believe they'd accept stones being sacked or even banned from playing for the first team . I honestly don't recall the outage when Ferguson was nicked or even pienaar, ability will find a way for many of the outraged to make excuses .

he's a complete melt. The more that is known of him and / or this incident the more that one can only conclude he's either idiot stupid or he is mentally ill. Having seen him red faced with the wine in the early evening after the Citeh game I'm inclined to think he's idiot stupid.

Most employers would not tolerate his behaviour.

No because Stones actually plays and is good. Where Gibson gets paid to either be injured or come on play crap then get injured

.

Or afford a taxi after a few drinks FFS.

Sensible not, professional not, error true, valuable asset true. Repair necessary, sale mandatory.

So you don't object to his issues on a legal or moral basis just on his ability ? I'm fine with that point of view but I honestly suspect others are less honest about it .
