He gets in our team when fit for me.

I rate him as much as anyone on here, but I'm not so sure I'd have him over McCarthy. He's not as quick and doesn't get as stuck in. Gibson's passing is amazing when he's on form though and he'd probably be better not having to be too careful with them as he'd have Barry alongside him. Last year he was our defensive mid and I'm not sure that's quite his best position. Less defensive responsibility could let him open the shoulders and dictate games.

We'll be spoilt for choice next season though, presuming Barry stays.

If you'd told me in August I'd be putting McCarthy in my team before Gibson this season I'd not have believed you, like.

If you'd told me during last season that we'd put McCarthy in the team before Gibbo I'd have said yesssssss.

Gibbos passing has been way off for quite a while, maybe that'll be different with more emphasis on attack and different coaching under Bobby.

What worries me, is how fit he comes back. He looked badly off the pace earlier this season so will have to work hard.

However, he is a very good footballer. I remember us having a fantastic record when he was in the team, and not losing many games. Oddly, he was is one of those players (a bit like Barry) who is a "winner" not fazed by big occasions.

I think some people are probably clouding their memories of him, are him playing in a midfield with Osman and Fellaini, when he was not fully fit in my view, in a midfield that wasn't very balanced.

I would agree with people that our strongest central midfield is Barry, McCarthy and Barkley, but don't underestimate the importance of being able to rotate. Also in a game like the Derby away the ability to have Barry, McCarthy and Gibson will be a good option for us.

A lot will depend though, on how fit Gibson comes back. There was a spell when he was very mobile, and looked a very influential player for us.

Being able to rotate Barry, McCarthy, Barkley and Gibson next season will be awesome -
Hopefully we can add a couple of quality wingers to rotate with McGeady, Pienaar and Mirrallas and get Ossie and Naismith sold

Gibson has a horrendous injury record. You cant count on him either for a first eleven slot or to rotate him.

Need one or two backups for CM.

We'll strengthen in CM this month, so to have Gibson, Barry, McCarthy and whoever we bring in this month challenging for two spots is superb, especially if we're playing in Europe next Season. Can essentially field two different midfields that dont include Osman.

Very, very good passer from deep. We'll be even better at quick counters and breaks with Gibbo playing. I'd have given him the armband this summer.

Agree. Even as good as Barry as played this season, I still think Gibbo is a better passer of the ball, probably best passer we have in the squad for me. He can see a pass and make it just as quick and I like the fact his first thought is to always play forwards!

I hope he fully recovers this time and comes back even better, he's an important player for us and will be a cracking player ina Martinez type team.

Darron has been linked with a move to Man Utd... If the Vidal and Pogba deals fall through.

Can't find a link but it's got quite a few mentions on Twitter.

He'd have to pay more than we bought him for like.

Imagine Moyes buying him for us from Utd, then moving to United and taking him back for more than he paid in the first place.

LOLVID MOYES

Just looked at the first page of this thread. Some top quality vault material there if any of the usual suspects what to take a look
