Agree with that wholeheartedly. The Carsley void was in desperate need of filling. People forget just how instrumental he was in us finishing 4th.

I think he's more of a complete midfielder than Carsley was. Sure, Carsley was a good holding mid but Gibson has a more rounded game, though aspects of Carsley's game were better.

Gibson is really not that similar to Carsley at all imo. Carsley was a dog of war who was purely out to win the ball and distribute it with a short pass or get rid. Gibson is decent at tackling but his game is more about getting the ball in space and picking out intelligent passes that keep us moving and not as vulnerable to giving possession away cheaply and getting counter-attacked

Have to agree with alot of that. Gibbo isnt as whole hearted and no nonsense as Carlsey but his distribution with the ball is a whole lot better IMO.

As with Carsley back in the day, we seem alot better, more stronger side with Gibbo in the 11 than without. Add Mirallas to that as both haven't started games together yet, then we could be on to a winner!

Funny how everyone early on was fuming that this could've been a sweetener regarding a Rodwell deal. Based on what Gibson's done since coming a straight swap would've been a good deal.

The skill where he flicked it over one City players head then while the ball was still in the air did it again then took it down, turned and passed it was magnificent.

We lost against WBA but he was subbed after 20 minutes.

He really could turn out to be one of Moyes' best every buys if he keeps fit and in form. He can play like.
