Darron Gibson

I have watched Gibson several times and not once did he strike me as ****,in fact I always thought he would be a good signing if Fergie wasn't playing him regular. has the potential to be a real fans favourite here.

How right I was. Great player as you could see again last night.

Reading the comments at the start of this thread is interesting, pretty much everyone thought it would be a poor signing.

He is a good player Gibbo, probably worth about 5 million.

I didn't even see the match last night because I was knee-deep in fanny but knowing Darron Gibson was starting got me to me vinegars that much quicker.

And that's a fact! Rafael!

I didn't rate him and I didn't want us to sign him... how wrong can you be !

I don't even consider if a player is good enough anymore, I questioned the signing of a young Australian lad from Milwall and that Phil Jagielka from Sheff Utd (what a waste of money he was going to be)....never again. I'll give them time.

I posted this on another forum at the time and its not a dig at anybody more an observation on the vagaries of the world of football transfers. Two different agents who spoke to moyes prior to the Gibson transfer were under the impression that he wasn't looking for a central midfielder and that although obviously aware of the player it was ferguson who actually 'sold' the player to Everton. If that makes sense ?

It's on no way a criticism of the manager but something similar happened before with valente when moyes who wasn't convinced spoke to mourinho who had moved to Chelsea by then and was glowing in his recommendation . In the interest of balance nobody fancied jelavic including the scouts & coaching staff (weir aside ) but moyes went with his gut and despite his current slight drop in form he looks a bargain .

I suppose all I mean is people are beating themselves up saying "I never rated him " etc ... When in fact there is sometimes more going on than is obvious and the recommendation of others can be vital

On FM, he should have the trait "Dictates Tempo".

He has completely surprised me - far, far better than I gave him credit for when he was at United.
