So because he's an alcoholic (we assume) he doesn't have to take any responsibility for getting rat arsed and saying what he did?Am I a teacher with a drink problem who is also rat arsed at the time.

People do and say silly things when they are drunk, but I understand you don't so I will lean towards feeling a bit for gibson and you take your watching the car crash stance. So because he's an alcoholic (we assume) he doesn't have to take any responsibility for getting rat arsed and saying what he did?
You never been drunk mate.
Maybe so mate but the point about having drinking problem is all the matters at the time is the drink,is best gazza and countless more. From watching the video he was more than just drunk. Was barely making sense in parts of the video.
I feel a bit sorry for Gibson I must admit. He was a good player for us when fit, but he was obviously never able to overcome the injury problems and who knows whether that has caused him some issues with depression etc? Must be tough thinking you've made it at a club like Man United, then get a new challenge at another big club like Everton and end up being forgotten about and never fit.
Having said that, he needs some help clearly. His behaviour the other night was out of order for a professional sportsman. He is getting paid thousands of pounds a week and part of his responsibility in that role is to keep himself in peak physical condition. Having a dodgy knee is one thing, but going out and getting so drunk you can barely speak properly, taking in an excessive amount of calories a week before the season after your team has just lost 0-5 that day is an insult to the club and fans.
I don't even feel sorry for him that those videoing him were 'sly'. I actually thought the points they were making were fair as supporters of the club he played for. They weren't brown nosing him like most Footballers expect because they weren't happy with his behaviour. I also find it laughable the way he was seen paralytic and yet claims other teammates don't care about playing for the club which the fans on the video rightly pointed out.
Hope he gets the help he needs because lets not also forget his disgraceful drink driving incident where he hit 3 cyclists. He obviously hasn't learned from his mistakes regarding curbing his drinking or got the help he needs. I have sympathy with him if he is a genuine alcoholic but he also needs to take responsibility himself.
