Darren Bent - Opinions?

Its not all that bb though is it? I mean Fowler scored well more but didn't cut the grade at international level, Le Tissier although not an out and out goal scorer was similar. Sometimes players just don't make than transition and I think Bent will be one of these.

Le Tissier would have bloody well lit up the stage at international level but he was never bloody picked.

Always had a soft spot for him, like.

Simple answer for Blue's original question.

Bent doesn't play for:

1) Chelsea
2) Manchester United
3) Arsenal
4) Liverpool

If he played for one of those four, he'd be billed as the savior of England's World Cup hopes.

Yes, really.

Very good player but the guy needs good service to get scoring opportunities. Its not his fault but his game wouldn't be very effective on England because I don't think the England midfield/forwards would provide that kind of service. There are too many soloists (Lamps, Gerrard, Rooney, plus if they start Cole and Defoe) who try to do everything themselves. This is how a player like Heskey gets a starting nod (and is quite effective) despite avg like a .0001 goal/match strike rate. It's becasue he (and maybe Lennon too) is the only unselfish player on the front lines.
