It wasn't a great game. Both teams hoofed the **** out of the ball, the difference was united had the quality to bring it down and make something of the attack once they did. UTD had most of the possession all game, but barely looked like scoring. It ended 2-0 but the second goal only came in stoppage time after Everton had just about everybody up for one last hoof into the box. Neither side really created many chances. Other than the two goals, United hit the bar and that was about it. I'm not sure if Everton had a single shot on goal, and couldn't have had more than 2-3 shots period.
Individually, Barkley had a disappointing game in midfield. He stayed too deep the entire game, never really going forward in attack unless he was leading the break on a counter. Other than a 3-4 nice long passes to wide areas, he was scarcely on the ball.
Lundstrum was his partner in midfield and I thought he was fantastic. He busted his ass the entire game in attack and defense and was the only one creating anything.
Dier was great again, winning balls in the air and on the ground, and just generally being in the right place to break attacks up. Really hope he stays.
Hope got a straight red for stepping on a players back, but it wasn't anything malicious.
Oh well, it was fun watching Everton in person at least.
