Cyrille Regis RIP

It really was atrocious back then. I remember my first Everton game against Notts Forest in 1977. Every time Viv Anderson touched the ball the 'N' Word and monkey chants rang round the ground*. No-one was reported for it back then. There were no UEFA sanctions

Icredible level of courage, determination and dignity shown by Cyrille Regis, Anderson and the other black players at the time.
They wanted to play football and nothing was going to stop them.

*That was the reality at every ground in the country every match
I can vividly remember watching us play United at goodison.
I heard Remi Moses get loads.
One lad shouted something I can still remember now, simply because it didn't make sense.
You would genuinely get nicked for saying it today.

Given his obvious contribution to English football, did anybody else think MOTD last night paid lip service to him?
Our match was 7th out of eight on the program and there was no mention of him until our game was introduced.
Very poor in my opinion but Lineker and MOTD all over.

I thought that due to the circumstances they may have put our game on first and said a few words of tribute to him but as you say they appeared to give it minimum coverage, very poor even byMOTD standards.

I must admit, I did like hearing the West Brom fans singing 'nice one Cyrille' and 'there's only one Cyrille Regis' yesterday.

So many black British players of the 90s looked up to him, our own Super Kev among them (and he's ex-West Brom too).
