Ineos doing exactly the same to O'Connor's chance of yellow. Waiting for the same fume as Movistar had on Friday...Movistar really are the worst team. Instead of putting Pogacar into difficulty they let their feud with Carapaz takeover and give him a tow to the line. Ridiculous team.
Roglic and MvdP have packed it in today. I find it interesting that there isn't more hoopla being made over yesterday. Beating your rivals by 3 minutes over the equivalent of a Ventoux worth of climbing is the equivalent of a 100m sprinter beating his rivals by half a second. It's an enormous beating.
In Beijing Bolt beat his rivals by about 2%. Pogacar beat his rivals over those two climbs by 7%. Not even the same ballpark. You mean exactly what Usain bolt did?
Different situation for me. When Movistar chased down Carapaz the GC was still in play and UAE had spent all day trying to contain a break so were vulnerable. Today the GC has completely gone and so Ineos were simply trying to gap their rivals for the podium (of which O'Conner isn't realistically one of them). It's a tactic that worked, as Lutsenko was gapped.Ineos doing exactly the same to O'Connor's chance of yellow. Waiting for the same fume as Movistar had on Friday...
100m compared to 200km... hmmIn Beijing Bolt beat his rivals by about 2%. Pogacar beat his rivals over those two climbs by 7%. Not even the same ballpark.
Bahrain certainly seem to be doing well, with Teuns winning stage 8, Mohoric stage 7, Padun making everyone look silly in the Dauphine and Caruso podium'ing at the Giro at the ripe age of 33. Not really sure what to think about this season. Not a bad ride from sprinter Colbrelli today....
You asked how much he beat the field by, so I told you. Froome's ride at the Giro saw him gain 3 minutes over 80km, which made him about 2% faster than Dumoulin et al over that distance, with much of his time taken on descents. I'm not sure how that compares to Pogacar riding 7% faster than his rivals yesterday. Froome on Ventoux won by about 25 seconds from Quintana and 1m40s from Contador. Contador himself on the Mortirolo gained about a minute on Landa. They're the kind of performances we've come to frame "exceptional" as in recent years. Someone taking 3 minutes over 15km of climbing is, if legit, arguably the greatest performance in the history of the sport.100m compared to 200km... hmm
If froome did all this you'd be lauding him. Pogacar is a freak like bolt
Landa, best place 3rd in the Giro, better than Carapaz, Giro winner and 2nd in last year's Vuelta having outclimbed Roglic. I'm not sure you really watch cyclingRight... landa was a great climber. Far better than anything in this field. Like I've said this tour is full of bang average climbers. Pogacar is 7% better than any of these. Is he 7% better than a fit roglic? Or bernal? No.
A donkey like froome taking near 2 mins on contador is far less credible than what we have seen this weekend. Your complete blinkers to anything froome or team sky is pathetic to be honest
Landa was also in last year's Tour, when he was outclimbed by Richie Porte.
