Cycling thread

I have no emotional attachment to the dead lady or her family but I still think that the young man must accept that what he did contributed to the incident rather than just wash his hands of it.
I agree, but stating how you'd feel if you were related is utterly pointless, such people are of course devastated and in no place to make a rational judgement

If Froome looks comfortable tomorrow the race for red is over!

Not convinced yet, Contador will try a long one and if he takes Nibali/Chaves and some teammates, Froome could be on the back foot like at Formigal last year. Also, we don't know how bad the crashes affected him. Of course he is in a great position though, especially bearing that TT in mind.

Who's the rider do you know?

Nope and can't make it out from the video. Mind you Sporza isn't one hundred percent sure about the authenticity since it might also be possible that it's a video from after the race when they are riding home. One of the reasons why they think that is that there aren't enough bicycles on the car.

The guy who made said it was made during the race...

So quite conflicted.

Morkov thinks it's real, De Kort doesn't.

It's not quite Nibali like in its Dick Dastardlyness. The car would need to speed off with rider attached

Okay it was real, Geniez and Denz got send home by AG2R today. They say the behavior of these riders conflicts with their sportive values. Bit strange though, the guy riding the car is also culpable in my view.

Agreed, that is fairly gratuitous but you can't just look at the riders in isolation.
How rife are these sort of tows in the gruppetto do you reckon? Away from the cameras, must happen a lot.

Must happen quite a bit I reckon; if you look at the video you don't see any of the riders of the other teams looking surprised or something ... I just thought it was a bit unfair that the team only punishes the riders when the driver is just as culpable.

Even so they were unlucky that some guy in another car filmed the incident so they had to be punished - sometimes you get off with a 90 € fine though (depending on how long the tow was).

Tbh I have more of an issue when these incidents influence the races; like overly long bidon collé and stuff like that. Those two riders are just there to make up the numbers. One of them has a bronchitis so you know everyday must be like hell for him. He won't be helping anybody in the team.
