This Wednesday's stage takes them through the heart of the Somme, including Arras, Theipval and Albert, some poignant names from 100 years or so ago. They will be flying westwards into Albert along a long, straight, flat one time Roman road that once split the British and German front-lines. I hope the TV coverage has time to take in the wider picture.

Huge crash involving about 25 riders including cancellara the leader.. The racevgotbhalted due to a lack of medics left for the the rest of the riders... Not seen that before...team sky bit hard done by the decision too halt the race

Hope no one's too badly hurt?

Gonna lump on little Tommy Voeckler to finish top 3 on Bastille Day (Stage 10 - A grueller of a climb) He might be gettin on a bit, but he's always been gutsy as (For a frenchman!)

Quintana for the stage win.
