To be fair he's never been that strong on steep climbs, but then neither has Evans really and he hung in there. The Galibier would probably be more Wiggins kind of climb, but this is the Giro. They're famous for the steep stuff.

Maybe he did require that team mate with him after all? :P

I doubt if Froome or the departed Rogers would have been with him he'd have been so far behind.

Dunno. Remember at the Vuelta in 2011? He struggled on the Zoncolan and Froome went off ahead.

Sounds like apocalyptic weather again today. Not sure there's been a grand tour played out in such heavy rain for a long time. Hardly surprising Wiggins has a cold. The weather today can't be helping his mood. Just hope everyone gets round ok. Apparently a nasty, narrow bridge near the end.

Aye maybe. The form men thus far though are without doubt Porte and Froome. Wonder if they'll put Wiggins into something like the Dauphine if he drops out early here?

A lot of their success last year had to be down to having a settled squad that rode Romandie, Dauphine, Paris Nice etc. together. Wiggins has largely been outside that group this year.

At least Cavendish got the win though. He's having a good race. Think that's three stage wins now and him into 6th in the all time list of grand tour stage winners. Got to have good odds on him overhauling Hinault and Binda ahead of him this season.

Not surprising as its bladdered down for about 14hrs. About 1000 lightning's last night (kids counted em).

Passes campsite gates on Sunday on ride to finish in Brescia so will get some pics and a T-shirt. Look out for our Everton shirts.

Lad from camp was gutted as he knows Wiggins as their lids play rugby together and he'd arranged a photo stop on the ride in. Reckons he may still come down as his lad supposed to come as well.
Will be weird cos exact spot I met sir Chris hoy last week.

Usually just a bit of a procession last days though aren't they ? Until they get to Brescia there'll be a cpl of sprints but just expecting a ride past tbh.
Shoulda gone to the trial yesterday really for photos.

Wettest spring for 50 odd years here apparently so made race a bit of a washout. THEY COULD pull over and have a pedalo race to put a on a smile in the face of adversity.
Just a thought like.
