Just watched a program on BBC that was talking about different foods and drinks that we get from the supermarket. Quite interesting.

They started that on average people in the UK took 40secs to brew a cuppa tea. They said that to get all of the antioxidants from a tea bag it should be brewed for a monstrous 7 minutes, yes 7 minutes. This would get 4 times the antioxidants from the bag and the 40sec brew. They stated that everyone should brew for at least 3 minutes to get twice the antioxidants from the bag compared to the 40sec brew.

So the question is, how long do you brew for and would you brew from 3 minutes if you knew there was a health benefit? I will give it a try but im a busy man, not sure i can be bothered to wait.

As long as it takes for me to get the milk out of the fridge, pour it then put it back. 7 minutes?!?! Fook that.

We normally let it steep for around 5 minutes. So my tea is far superior to yours.

Plus the longer it steeps the better the cuppa tastes!!!!!!

Brewed for around 3 or 4 minutes if it's your usual english tea. I have a boss system where I make 3 or 4 mugs of tea (only putting the milk in one) and save the others for later. Then when I'm ready, I just blast one of them in the microwave (90 seconds) and add milk. Almost-instant-tea!

Green/white tea I probably brew for a bit less, unless it's in a teapot then the bag stays in.

Weak tea is rank and tastes like dishwater.
