Average salary in paraguay is $173 a week. Again, the average person there will not use BTC as a currency as it is simply not practical.

Even in England, with a much higher average salary, would you pay $5 minimum fee everytime you went to Tesco? No, you would just use your debit card and pay no fees
Ahhhh, so that's sh*tcoin!

What's the point of it if you can't spend what's in your piggy bank?

Certainly not for peer to peer currency.

BTC can be used to move money across borders, but so can LTC, ETH, XRP... the list goes on.

I'm not really sure what your point is.

Perhaps you should re-read and fully digest what youve written below...and come back to me?

We are long past the point of bitcoin being used as a currency. Anyone who says bitcoin will be used as such is an idiot

BTC will be never be used as a currency, there are less retailers accepting it now than 5 years ago.

Youre looking VERY foolish at the moment...

To be clear, I think El Salvador saying they will use BTC as a currency is an awesome thing for crypto in general, as it will increase adoption of other crypto assets.

I don't believe BTC will ever be used for day to day transaction especially in poor countries like El Salvador. Like I said, why would they pay a $50 transaction fee when average weekly wage is $170?

Likewise, if average person A wants to send money to average person B in El Salvador, why would they pay $50 to do so? BTC is simply a terrible option for this.

This is before I even mention the speed of a transaction! Imagine waiting at the till 10 minutes to get block confirmation that your transaction went through.

When I said there ware less retailers accepting it now than 5 years ago, that was a true statement...BTC has been around for over 10 years, yet basically no one is using it on a day to day basis for buying things (Which was Satoshi's whole vision)

If I am being so foolish, please explain to me how or why the average person in El Salvador would use BTC for their day to day purchases. If i'm such a fool, this must be a trivially easy thing for you to explain to me.

If you search the % of people who have a bank account there and then look at the % of those who use online banking...compare with the % of people who have internet access and mobile phones.

In Asian countries there are different payment systems which are used online to pay bills / food / transport /clothes etc all without the need to have a bank account. Some of these take 2-4 days to reflect on electricity bills for example. Its not just about going into a shop and paying...

El Salvador is in Central America and uses the USD. They must feel a need to move away from 100% reliance on the USD and have chosen Bitcoin as the alternative.

The fact is that you posted that "anyone who thinks bitcoin will be used as a currency is an idiot".

You have been proven wrong.

Paraguay and others are exploring...
