Basically been used as a batsman this year. Did well in his last game. Could be a really useful all rounder. He's been in great form with the bat this year. Not sure how he's been bowling ?
I thought he was really poor. A far cry from some of his county performances. He just consistently failed to find a good line. He really should've been much more of a threat out of the rough.Bowled far too quickly with no flight. Almost like t20 style
A few of the bowlers have played all four tests so might be changes, be interesting to see if Archer plays, also Bumrah. Was expecting a lot better from Dawson considering how he’s spoken about.
He was really poor. Not just in his bowling and not finding any sort of length but in the field as well.
Think I’d look to have an extra seam bowler now and use root when we have to.
None of the spinners are good enough to have a place in this team.
Certainly not good enough to play against India than Australia.
I'm starting to think playing a spinner in the Ashes is maybe not a good idea. They need to be good enough to merit a place on the team and I'm not sure there is anyone good enough. Was expecting a lot better from Dawson considering how he’s spoken about.

If we don't pick a spinner you know what some of the pitches that the Aussies might prepare would do.I'm starting to think playing a spinner in the Ashes is maybe not a good idea. They need to be good enough to merit a place on the team and I'm not sure there is anyone good enough.
I think they will want the pitches to give help to their quick bowlers. That's the strength of their team and why they will be big favourites. If we don't pick a spinner you know what some of the pitches that the Aussies might prepare would do.
Tbf to the Aussies, they don't prepare pitches for teams, they prepare them for the ground's reputation and tradition. Brisbane will always be made to be bouncy and fast, Melbourne greener, Perth firey, Sydney a turner. They then confidently play their brand. If we don't pick a spinner you know what some of the pitches that the Aussies might prepare would do.
Here is a good piece on him. What's happened with hartley and Ahmed?
Bowled match winning spells in an England shirt, doing decent at domestic level....
Surely worth a shout?
