Corners

Corners have been poor this season, though Lukakus 2nd goal in the derby was brilliant.

My main concern about corners would be how teams can counter attack us from our poor corners.

We need to be more clever, when it comes to corners and free kicks.

This has been studied. Goals from corners are actually quite rare across all teams / leagues and statistically they are not great goalscoring opportunities. Something like 2-3% of corners lead to goals average.

Liverpool's first against Palace was obviously a well rehearsed corner kick tactic with Allen's marker being blocked off as Allen ran into a scoring position. Everton don't do corners, and any goals we have scored from them have been flukes to be honest.

Really need to address this. It didn't improve over the course of the whole season and it's a major issue. The RS must have scored 12-15 goals from corners at least, with Skirtingboardturtle getting what? 7 or 8 alone?
I think that bloke is only partially evolved. The pathway is :
skirtingboardturtle----> Skrtel---->squirtle---->wartortle---->blastoise.

After blastoise he mutates into bulbasaur before finally joining the rest of LFC by becoming a bulb.

I distinctly remember an interview with RM early in the season where he stated something to the effect that scoring from set pieces was not nearly as satisfying as scoring from open play. I'm not saying he doesn't care about set pieces, but it's possible that his coaching focus this season was on scoring from open play as a priority.

I think we are conditioned to seeing corners/set pieces as our primary weapon/threat for goal scoring. Not saying we don't need to be better in this area next season mind you.
