It's all opinions and I'm not his biggest fan, the Manager obviously trusts him to step in as and when needed. If one of the two gets offered a deal it's him.

Considering I don't expect us to sign 2 'ready to play' central defenders I reckon it's nailed on he gets a years extension.

He will spend most of his time on treatable table. Nailed on.
 
i think we have too many young players and too many old players at the same time...

but we have a core and infact a spine of potentially excellent young players - stones,besic,barkley, lukaku... its just everything is so rubbish atm its difficult to be objective
 

I got sidetracked when you touted Ajax's CL win against the champions of Cyprus.That's like, a country, right?

You make a valid point though. Our U-21 squad probably could beat APOEL Nicosia.

If we had 2 players for each position after shipping our older players, we'd be left with something like this right?

That's a lot of gaps to fill.

Certainly would that's why it's unlikely we'll try do anything. Can add Browning to centre half, Kenny to right-back and Dowell somewhere in there though.

Was almost going to add in browning but wasn't sure whether he was ready yet/going to make it, he's certainly looked like he's got a bit about him in the cameos he's had for us - here's hoping!

Dowell and Kenny I have heard almost nothing from though, fill me in?

The bad thing is i'd actually love to see us field that squad, with some excellent players in-between (wouldn't we all), but where is the money going to come from :/

Dowell and Kenny are raw but enough for the squad certainly in my opinion. I would also love to fill the blanks in with some quality youngsters so here's hoping we can get decent money for say the Howard's of the squad.

Sounds good to me. I'd like to see us sign Del back. Certainly a 50/50 player but he's on the next level to McGeady and is way younger.
 
Y'know what's really scary? The number of players who should leave and easily could leave is very nearly the entire squad. Sure, there's a bit of pre-reverse engineering here, but would any of the following moves be considered shock moves?

"Should" go:

Eto'o - More or less gone
Pienaar - Can't stay healthy, nearing the end of the road
Osman - Ditto. May already be done if reports turn true
Barry - Looks past it, at least as an every match starter
Howard - Has struggled, may have lost his place
Distin - Out of contract, presumed gone
Alcaraz - Out of contract, presumed gone
Gibson - Presumed missing, hopefully fed

"Could" go/teams are interested:
Mirallas - One year left on contract, wants CL football
Lukaku - Could leave in the summer for CL football
Barkley - Ditto/"bigger" club
Coleman - Head turned, off to United/Chelsea?
McCarthy - Unhappy with wages, off to Spurs/United/Anywhere?
Stones - Big money move to Arsenal/Spurs/etc
Garbutt - Out of contract
Oviedo - Out of contract (I think), what's his role?
Hibbert - Retired

What's left:
-Baines
-Joel
-Jagielka
-Besic
-McGeady
-Naismith
-Kone

Of course, only a few of these moves will actually happen. It just shows how bizarre the current squad composition is. There's only seven players I'd feel remotely confident betting my nonexistent house on still being here in September. Do all teams have this problem?
