I think one of the reasons alot of us have gotten behind him so quickly is not only because he had an excellent pre season against top clubs like Real and Juve, done brilliant work in the transfer market or even because we're so far unbeaten, but it's because of his class attitude. As we know Roberto is a nice guy, he's charming, boss at press conferences even under 'uneasy' questions and what i like most is his optimism, his will to face every challenge head on. Both him and Moyes have their similarities as they're both workaholics, they study their opponent's meticulously and operate a tight nit dressing room to get 100% out of players. However Martinez has something i always found lacking with Moyes, Moyes takes knives to gunfights, Roberto says nothing but the best is good enough, as cheesy as it is he's sending out a lighthearted message but a message nonetheless and that is he will set up his team to win every game regardless of who's guns bigger.

That is a man with a plan right there, you don't come out with comments like that unless your confident your team can beat anybody else, considering we're still unbeaten i'm confident too. Moyes was too comfortable at Everton and has recently let us down with his hypocritical comments and general disrepect for the club but whilst on this forum we complained about his better safe then sorry subs, lack of a plan B, etc yet he'd managed to convince the media that he was Everton FC always fighting above our weight and the plucky Everton stuck like ****. Imo I think Moyes attitude towards the media and his general negativity put a cloud over the club at times which is why Roberto is a good thing.

Martinez immediately soaked himself in everything Everton, if he didn't know his history he does now and i think his positivity and optimism has worn off on the players and fans of the club and also painted Everton in a new light, we didn't get many pundits backing us to be challenging like we are at the moment, it was all about Moyes in his new job whilst Martinez quietly expressed his intentions for the season and on we went. Since the start of the season we've had a bit more interest in Everton, mostly after the transfer window and Roberto's fantastic signings, he brought in two of the highest rated young attackers in the game, added strength in depth with the clever signing of Barry and the very promising James McCarthy and gave Barkley the time on the field needed to build his confidence and my god has it worked.

If you can't tell i'm an optimistic fan, i believe we can beat anybody when we're on top gear and it's so refreshing to finally know our manager feels exactly the same way and has no intention on letting any other team stop us playing our own game, is right Roberto, hoping we get a few trophys in his reign and puts that plucky everton bollocks to bed for good.

Good post mate

There will be times when we won't be able to buy a win. The important thing to remember is that this is a long term project and not to panic after some bad results.
RM is still very much in learning mode ,it will be next season before we really see what he has done to our club.

The positive results we are getting are largely from the quality squad of players left behind by David Moyes and a manager with a different mindset.
Players DM was too conservative o get the best out of.

Great post!

Roberto has me believing again that we CAN compete with anyone. Our finances may be a drawback, but it is not an insurmountable one

When I listen to the Mancs on radio phone-ins they say that their squad is not strong enough and that they should have strengthened more in the summer, but that is besides the point - the reason they are in trouble is because they aren't getting anywhere near the best out of the player that they do have and are not playing as a team. Better players won't help if you don't know how to use them.

Martinez is one of the best footballing brains I have ever seen. He implicitly trusts a 19 year old to play center attacking midfield from day one because he recognises that such a footballing philosophy is the only way that we are going to outmaneuvre wealthier opponents. If you want to beat them you have to try something different.

hmmm, not so sure about that. Sure we will have the odd frustrating game and defeat, but they will be one off matches speckled throughout the season. Think we'll be consistently competitive in the majority if not all of this seasons games.

I think we've already gone through the cant buy a win period this season in the 1st 3 games

and because he believes that an attacking mid's main role is to attack.....and ross can certainly do that.
