Neville Southall .... I thought he was going to be a really tidy centre forward .... the next Dixie Dean. Disappointed. How wrong was I?

Besic -- Jurys out on him still but after season to adapt and injuries i still hope he will come good.

Barry -- Been good overall. Thought he was finished last season.

I ad a few grumpy moments with Lukaku after writing off last season as one which showed he needed work. After a summer off I thought we were in for the same thing again after a few games in:

What you're asking for is to neglect that we don't have one Erikson-type creative player, neglect that we operate on a much smaller budget, and finally, neglect that Lukaku showed in europe that in this system that we play he can score goals if he's up for it. Just like last season, he looked on Saturday like he's still on his holidays which is probably understandable, yet Kone comes on with a bit of sprite and gets a goal and an assist!

You neglect so much mate.

The fact that Lukaku should be far better at holding the ball up than he is. The fact that Kone showed more zest in his cameo than Lukaku did all game. I can't think of single thing that Kone has over Lukaku talent-wise yet Kone completely showed him up on Sat.

Finally, you are basically asking Lukaku not be our focal point and build attacks from him, yet neglect the fact that we are Everton! We don't have the luxery to allow our 28million striker to be a "fox in the box", we need him to be the centre-point, to get us up the pitch, to take pressure off the defence. Same whether he cost 4million or 28, but for 28 we expect goals too.

The lad is still very young and needs games, experience etc. But to just pass off his current under-development because we are asking him to perform as an all-round top striker is wrong imo.

I don't buy into "Lukaku is lazy".

What's clear is that he has no intention of, or has no idea to, be(ing) the focal point of our attack.

He doesn't show. The ball doesn't stick.

He just wants it to feet, facing the goal.

Not for 28mill, thanks. He needs serious work if he's going to justify that price tag.

I let last season and his patchy form get the better of me in the opening weeks of the season. In reality he just needed a few games to get sharp.

I repent.

Couldn't have been more wrong about Coleman. Thought he looked like he'd be massively found out second season. Been scratching my head about others and can't come up with obvious one, so now I'm convinced I'm far too positive about everyone we sign.

i realise now i am far too positive when it comes to everton. i cant remember a signing i didnt want or at least say id give time to.

we signed some averageness under Moyes but he seemed to have the knack of getting something out of the majority of them so id always assume they would do ok.

i am pretty sure i really didnt want Kilbane having watched him regularly annoy me in an Ireland shirt, as nice a guy and professional as he may have been. however i dont think i saw enough full games at the time to know if he was considered a good signing in the end
