Computer games.

I get what you guys are saying, and for the most part it does make sense... but I looked at my Xbox games collection before trading in for credit the other day - in 7yrs of owning an Xbox One/One X, I ended up owning precisely games on physical media, only 1 of which wasn't bought at or near release, for full price, none of which I ended up trading in/selling (until this weekend, when they were worth a total of £30) and the most recent of which was released 3.5yrs ago. That coupled with 1) the fact that by trading in my xbox I could cover 100% of the cost of the Digital Only PS5; and 2) I'm currently trying to pay for a wedding; pushed me to the Digi Only option. I can't see that I'll notice the lack of a drive at all tbh.

Horses for courses I suppose - but for me it's not even the trade-in value of physical games, it's the fact that Sony can sell their digital games exclusively through their own storefront and charge whatever they hell they want for them - The concept of 'shopping around' for the best price becomes defunct because you're dealing directly with Sony

For example, say i fancied playing Assassins Creed Origins - A game which currently sells for £10 in CEX - It's £49.99 in the Playstation Store!

Not to mention that the disc drive ps5 still plays digital games. So best of both worlds really. That 90 quid extra will pay for itself in about a year for me, if that.

However I suppose if you don't play many games and only buy digital anyway maybe it is worth it. Everyone has different preferences and more consumer choice is a good thing.

The issue here is that it feels like a first step towards an all digital future, where the storefronts are monopolised and my favourite hobby becomes a lot less financially viable. PCs have GOG, Steam and more. Being at the mercy of the eye watering permanent-RRP prices on console storefronts is not something I want any time soon.

Definitely going for the Disc-player PS5. Still have a ton of PS4 games I haven't even started yet and the backwards compatibility is a deal-breaker.

Gonna be a while before i can justify the cost of one, got my missus' 40th birthday, Daughter's 3rd birthday and Christmas all after each other, so it'll be a loooong while before I pick one up.

Any road, I'll always prefer physical copies of games rather than digital ones....feels more like actual "ownership" and you get all the cool extras (I got the deluxe version of FFVII Remake, truly a beautiful package and the game itself is boss).

Nearly 700 for an Xbox in that time then.

Bit pricy like , especially brand new the lot would cost at most 530
Yeah just under. But if you buy it outright and subscribe to the game pass separately it works out at over 700 over the 2 years. So you save a little bit of money and don't have a big financial hit all at once.

Ahh yes, I was thinking along the lines of the Xbox gold prices rather than the games.

Good deal then to be honest.
