Don't be too harsh...shiz happens. Believe it or not, I've yet to buy a new part that was bad right out of the package and my first full build was somewhere around 20 years ago. I've been through about 7 or 8 full builds in that time; not counting others built for friends/family, which would put me well above 30 for personal use and who-the-hell-knows-how-many on the business side but I don't count those. I've been super lucky. I had one IBM 'Deskstar' (which got the "deathstar" moniker back then) HD fail on me and an old EPoX motherboard that suffered from the
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague issue but those were all post build.
I've dealt with more compatibility and software issues than genuine hardware issues over the last 2 decades. You wouldn't believe how simplified it's become nowadays. No DIP switches, no jumper settings, installing a new version of DirectX doesn't FUBAR your Windows install to the point of having to clean install again, blahblahblah. It's a lot simpler now, typically...especially with all the online help.
Enjoy...
