The minute I read it, I thought the whole goal of the statement wasn't to defend his players. His whole goal was to wind up Moyes, the players, and the fans.
I sincerely hope that on the return leg, the exact same thing happens to them but Moyes doesn't respond in kind. Moyes has too much class for that.
