I grew up just down the road from where he grew up.

Apparently his parents stayed there all their lives and he would take young players to stay with them when they were coming through.

I think Graeme Sharp might have stayed there for a bit.

My dad was at this game. He said that when we scored some guy jumped on his back to celebrate. My pops tried to push him off but he just clung on and screamed with joy. In the end my dad got angry, managed to push him off, and went to give him an angry rant. As he spun around he saw it was his uncle. They had no idea that they were both at the game and his uncle had no idea it was him when he had jumped on his back. They ended up hugging and dancing together. Both lovely guys are now gone. Both top blues. That story always makes me smile.
