Coleman's Chance?

Coleman----------heitinga---------------Baines

basically what we have now, but two wingbacks, 2 holding mids, and heitinga playing a little further back just in front of the centre backs. Something like that I think would work fine in the premier league

Don't really see the need for Heitinga there. We'd be solid enough without him, imo, and be able to field five attacking players like we did against Villa and West Brom.

Heitinga is never a midfielder I'm afraid, always been poor when played there. He should be first choice with Jags imo

Bizarre how last season's player of the year can't get a game this season. That's 50 grand worth of player sitting on the bench everyweek just so Moyes' favourties can play

If you're playing 2 attacking full backs wouldn't it be best to have 2 sitting midfielders in there? Basically your 4-2-3-1 with the 2 wide men in the 3 cutting in the allow the full backs to overlap.

If going with 2 attacking full backs surely you need two sitting mids. Although yeah maybe against crap teams at home you might be able to risk it but against anyone half decent you risk leaving a hole at the back.

Distin is a Moyes favourite??

Christ, is there ANYBODY in the squad he doesnt love?

Neville and Hibbert are attacking full backs, though. In terms of position if not crossing ability.

But if you insist on two midfielders playing deep behind an attacking four why not just Gibson and Fellaini?

Distin, because he's left footed, has always been a Moyes favourite, no one can deny otherwise

I like Distin myself but he's not at Johnny's level; not half as good on the ball imo and makes mistakes. 2 x 35 year olds in the back 4 every single week is worrying imo

Neville and Hibbert are no way near as attacking in the way they play as Baines and Coleman are. Sure they get forward at times but surely you can see the difference? They are probably 50/50 in terms of attacking/defending whereas in that formation you;d use Baines and Coleman a lot more attacking.

And if you did you'd be best with 2 sitting mids solely to sit and destroy basically. I wasn't specifically advocating Heitinga there, Gibson and Fellaini would be ok as long as they didn't roam too much.

In that formation Heitinga, and possibly even Neville may be able to do a job if they are purely defensive mids who protect the defence when the fullbacks are attacking and the front 4 are as well.

Coleman, though a promising prospect often suffers from lapses in concentration and moments of poor positional discipline. So I'd say that he's work in progress at present and therefore not yet ready to make the roll his own.I reckon that he will eventually overcome all that though and make a decent right - back, whether it's at Everton is a different matter.

I hope R.O.I. keep giving him chances at RB as much as possible so that he can learn the position at a good standard as he wont get the chance anytime soon on a regular basis at Everton.

Playing there at international level will do him the world of good IMO.

Coleman to right back should be Moyes number one priority.

1 - 11 comfortable on the ball, that's the only way we are going to challenge top four.

It's a no brainer.

Slightly off topic but people saying Distin should be dropped just because johnny is 'the better player'. Yes I agree he is really good but what's the need in dropping Distin when playing out of his skin? Can see him being dropped due to West Brom don't get me wrong but still think if a player plays very well, he should not get dropped the next week because we have a 'bigger' player on the. Bench fighting for his place.
