Are the people who said he was rubbish going to put their hand up?
The cut inside the two City defenders first half was superb. In general, he's very good at getting the defender's weight moving one direction then quickly going the opposite way.
Did anyone say he was rubbish? At the start of the season he was suspect defensively, he's improved a lot since then and he's clearly full of confidence.

There's a few red faces now from that thread mate. http://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/40062-Seamus-Coleman-isn-t-up-to-it?highlight=coleman

Haha i then searched for that as well.
He did make a few mistakes earlier in the season but that was balaanced out by his contributions going forward.
But its like i always try to explain when supporting giving young inexperienced players a go in the team : if you give them a run in the team with faith in them even when they make inevitable mistakes there's hell of a lot more chance of them developing into decent Prem players than there is if you leave them in the reserves/on the bench.
Obviously if they're clearly not good enough you don't, but when they have potential you need to bring it out of them. Just like we have with Coleman.
There's probably people in that thread Davek linked saying Colemans ok to play against the likes of Norwich or Reading but not Man City. He proved that wrong today didn't he.
Even when he was struggling back then he was still the best option to play, simply because he gave the side balance. I think that's what the defence of him was based on.
