Player Valuation: £50m
Literally 16 hours after the Daily Mirror Chief Sports Writer Oliver Holt wrote that he thinks Moyes will be sacked in the summer, completing a huge u-turn in opinion and perspective by Holt, comes this 'exclusive' by the Mirror's David McDonnell that United are in advanced talks for a £15m move for Coleman in the summer.

Yes, the same McDonnell of the many, many 'Baines to Man Utd - it's a done deal, no honest, swear down lad, I'm telling the truth this time' stories over the past 2 years.

If we turned down 12 for a 29 year old left back, what makes them think 15 would get a 25 year old right back?

We also have no RB backup.

Here's the hilarious kicker:
"the 25-year-old, who has been a revelation for Everton and is destined for a big-money summer move."

Melts.

He's nothing more that Man U fan with a job at a newspaper. He writes like a teenage fan, the man's a know nothing melt.

If Moyes signed him he would stick him in midfield no question.

the problem with Coleman is that if the banks need money then he will be sold. The level of profit the club could make would force their hand on the matter. That is why we need to make sure this doesnt happen because couldn't remember the last time i had a favourite player, but coleman is certainly a contender for one now :)

that tells you something about him.

If the banks need money?? We've sold nearly 50 million in the past year. If they sell Seamus Coleman for less than 30 million there should be a riot. We cannot sell players of his quality and expect to compete for European places. Especially not to competitors.

I realize right backs are not the most valued players on the pitch, but he's been one of the best in the league this year and is a main source of goals for us, and we have no backup for him except Tony Hibbert, who is likely to retire soon, and certainly doesn't offer as much.

He wont be sold boys, non-story this.

Feel free to quote at the start of next year when he is still here.

The bigger question for another thread is why do the banks keep needing the money...........

I think from where he started he needs to retire in a blue shirt and he certainly has played his way into the propaganda newspapers way of thinking. However no-one apart from spurs or arsenal would buy him and neither would for the price we need to quote.

I'd hope he stays.

Even if there is a grain of truth (ie. Coleman being a Man U fan as a kid) we showed enough resolve in keeping Baines to make me confident of refusing this offer, and keeping him.

Don't think anyone on earth is shocked to see these rumours, just like no one will be shocked to see the upcoming Barkley rumours that will start in the summer, probably followed by rumours about McCarthy and Stones over the next 6 months too, it's just lazy journalism and not based on anything besides guesswork and not fit for tomorrows chippy paper, Coleman will get linked with Arsenal again too, stones with city and united and probably the rs, chelsea will get linked with ross as will united and probably arsenal and the rs, its badly predictable, mccarthy with united and arsenal etc etc etc

Exactly. The Central Banks of Europe, UK and US are 'printing' (out of thin air) billions each day which they effectively give to banks. The process is called Quantitative Easing and if you want to know why the price of everything is rising (including football assets - i.e. players), it's because of this [Poor language removed] process.

But I digress....

Honestly think Martinez would walk away if Coleman was sold from under him at that sort of price. He has been so aggressive in getting rid of players that don't fit his system (Anichebe, Jelavic, Heitinga), probably to get money in and reduce the wage bill so that he can keep and reward those that do fit.

Not saying he wouldn't get sold if an amazing offer came in but think it would be double what is quoted in the Mirror

Edit Coleman may have been a Man Utd supporter as a kid but he is an Evertonian now or a damn fine actor
