Thanks for explaining. I guess the key us to try one and see if I like it.Very few differences between this and a basic french press? If you prefer the rougher, bitterness of the french press then great, it's the one for you. Though to say there is very little difference is just not true.
Aeropress is faster, far more subtle and balanced in flavour - you can really taste the depth of each coffee especially if you are using a light roast. It's versatile too, you can brew using several different methods (inverted, espresso style, iced etc) and a bonus for me is none of that sludgy mess.
You can't see the differences between the many brewing methods just by reading reviews online, you have to try them yourself. Anyway for me the V60 pourover is better but as I say, it's all just personal preference. Most of the time I just drink Yorkshire tea anyway.

I like proper coffee me especially when i have the time too make it, nothing like a massive hot caffettie full of Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee, Nescafe is just sewer water in comparisonWaste of time and effort.
1 spoon of Nescafe 2 spoons of sugar, hot water and milk to taste, Job done.

Generally every coffee I've ever had, rather than the rough, bitter, sludgy mess of my French press has been a bland disappointment, so maybe the aeropress isn't for me.
Still curious to try one though, since people seem to rave about 'em.

I like an aeropress but the V60 wins for me. Even easier to use and clean (you just dump the filter in the bin) and the smoothest cup I've ever had.
The biggest difference is using freshly roast and ground beans of course though. Between £8 - £10 for 500g of Sidamo from a local roaster that keeps me going for a week or two. People always scoff at spending that much on coffee then don't think twice about blowing £3 on one burnt mess from Starbucks.
I have two v60's, plastic and glass, but still prefer AeroPress. Haven't used by v60 in months, may give it a go.
Yeah, I agree. I have a subscription with Pact so its about £7 for 250g and I grind at home and tend to use light or medium roast. The oddest thing about coffee chains is how expensive they are, going to an independent coffee shops/roasters is such a different experience
I should probably try my AeroPress again, it's been about a year! I've used Pact quite a lot too, that's where I first had the Sidamo. I like how they'll do free next day delivery!
I know, the delivery is so good.
I get a more expensive coffee now and again, quite like the ones with the fruity 'funky' flavours but it gets to a point where I wonder if I am getting the best out of it seeing as I don't look into the technical side of weight to water ratio and things. Only as good as your weakest part etc
Hah yeah I used to obsess over weighing the coffee and temperature of the water. Can't be arsed now and just scoop and pour, still tastes amazing.
Got the Ubumwe Kigoma from Pact today actually. "Hints of black current syrup" apparently.
