I'm just amazed at how many experts we have on Soviet history, East German history, Capitalism, Socialism, Trotskyism, Stalinism, Leninism -the list goes on. The mind boggles at the expert knowledge which, as usual, is put forward with unwavering belief in its accuracy. Strangely enough this also applies when looking at opposing views on how our football club should be run. Even more peculiar is that those with the in-depth knowledge of world affairs also have the same laser-beam accuracy in solving Everton's misfortunes. Unfortunately however, for us mere mortals, they simply can't agree on how to save Everton any more than they can on saving the world from itself. We live on in hope that one day they will enlighten us and we can all be happy Evertonians sharing our mixed ideas on how to move our great club forward for the future. For now though we just have to wait for the great minds on this Forum to find a way for us all in these dark times.

Welcome to the internet mate.

I too watched RT to try and help me have an objective view on the conflict. But I can’t anymore as I’m subject to British state censorship.
I watched RT from the start of the conflict and I found them to be the most balanced organisation there was. They are obviously going to lean toward Russia a bit, but they by no means were uncritical of Putin and the invasion. They showed a lot of dissent. It was the only broadcaster that gave the origins of this conflict serious analysis (coups inspired by the West and Russia; the Ukaranian neo-nazi harrassing of the Russian speakers in Donbass; the failure of the western powers to impliment the Minsk Agreement as they'd promised).

Of course, Joe Public cant be seeing that. Better take that channel off the air ASAP.

Utter hypocrites these western news agencies and the governments they prop up.

It just amazes me how many people are furious about propaganda when they’re repeating propaganda themselves.

Full discourse I once fell for it too I can empathise here.

The thing about the type of tripe the BBC and other MSM pump out is that at some stage (and especially in this day and age when everyone seems to have the attention span of a fruit fly) there comes a point when their saturation of the public with a simplistic Ukraine/good Russia/evil BS narrative starts working against what they want. There's a tipping point when people, fed up with the constant wall to wall coverage, will start to resent the Ukrainians.

And wait'll you see how Joe and Josephine Public react when the next leccy bill comes in and they're being told it's through the roof because of this conflict. They wont give a flying one about that odious clown Zelensky and his puppet government, they'll want Putin to put this to an end and bring down their biils.

Spot on. Thatcher turning the island into self serving maggots may rebound on them. Those Ukrainian avatars will soon disappear when they can’t afford their latest 55 inch screen TV.

it took 2 years for people to stop caring about covid and it wasn't even to put their own needs first - I think people are more likely to patriotically reduce their energy consumption for the greater good for at least a year to be honest...

Different entirely: the Covid situation was taken seriously and largely accepted becaus of self preservation; the Ukraine War is not seen that way.
