Cloning an Android phone

My wife dropped her phone and smashed the side of the case right where the power button is so it is being sent off for repair or replacement. She has all the standard backups in place but is there a way to back up a total clone of her phone just in case she's given a brand new phone that could then be loaded with the back up and have the new phone looking exactly like the old phone.

I've done it from old phone to new phone via WiFi but that's when I have the 2 phones together. I want to be able to do the same thing but maybe hosting the clone on a pc until the new phone arrives.

what type of phone is it , Apple you can do it with your Apple id,
android if you have set google up it will reset your stuff up for you when you log in Contacts, emails ect when you first log in with your Google id.
some of the manufactures have there own programs to set it all up in your pc , Samsung used to have samsung kies for instance think they have something similar but under a different name.
Kies , let's you put your old phones settings on your pc or Mac via lead from your phone to the computer , when you get your new one just reverse the process, you can still download this free.
think there are plenty of programs out there for other makes, but I always have an Samsung so have only done it before with them.
