Clapping Naismith

nothing wrong in my eyes.

Naismith obviously loves the club and as fans it is nice we can appreciate what he gave the club. Worked his arse off for the shirt and scored some important goals as well.

Happy to clap him every time.
It's wrong, never seen another team do it ever, RS, Spurs, Man U.

Clapping a former player scoring against you, just isn't right IMO.

Vividly remember my first game at Goodison as an 8 year old

Leyton Orient at home in the Rumbelows Cup in 1989

Their winger, a lad called Danny Carter, smashed one in the top corner from about 30-35 yards out past Big Nev. Everyone around us in the family enclosure clapped (the game ended 2-2, we went through on aggregate).

Didn't and still don't know if it's normal. Yesterday might be the first time I've been aware of it happening since

I thought it was a really nice touch and an act that separates us as fans from most other clubs.

Naismith always gave 100% when he played for Everton. He may not have been the best player but nobody could doubt the effort he put in and the fact he was an important player to successive managers. He also seemed like a decent bloke for what he did around the community and a bit of a throwback. I wish he didn't leave when you consider we traded him for Niasse.

He had a tough first season but overcame that to win most people round. Never had a bad word to say against the club and we never really got to say goodbye so seemed a nice touch. I put him down with Cahill as a lad who gave everything for the cause everytime he went onto the pitch and you can ask no more. I remember giving Greame Stuart a standing reception for Charlton as he scored the winning goal against us too. It's small things like that that make Everton the football club it is and ultimately bind many of those who have played for us to the club after leaving.
