Evening Toffees. They are finally on to them. Article in tomorrows guardian English football has been warned it has allowed one of its major clubs to be exploited as a "branding vehicle" by an international regime accused of human rights abuses after a trial in Abu Dhabi, a country ruled by Manchester City's owner and his brothers, was widely denounced as repressive, involving torture, and "fundamentally unfair" http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/jul/30/manchester-city-human-rights-accusations

The feller who wrote that, David Conn, brought out a book recently about City's takeover by that Abu Dhabi lot. He basically described the new regime there as fantastic stewards of Man City. A lot of eyebrows were raised at the time because Conn has the reputation of opposing the commercialisation of the game. It looked like he'd been bought out for a big fat fee.

He looks to be trying to win back some credibility with that piece.

ffs I wish one of these murderous bstards with loads of money would buy us.

I'm not that arsed about human rights as long as there's stuff on the tele.

Whereas the UK is the paragon of virtue and never illegally occupies sovereign nations like Afghanistan or Iraq, or allows CIA rendition aka torture flights anywhere near British airspace, or has anything to do with international arms trafficking and the opium trade... I just wish the Royal Family would buy Everton.

Or the envelope didn't arrive......
