Latest news on cigarettes is that they're going to be taken off the shelves and put under the counter to keep them out of sight of teenagers. If they want people to stop smoking all tobacco plants should be wiped out. Mind you people will start smoking tea bags, yukka plants, old mattrasses or anything else that gives off toxic fumes. For all my sins I smoke and have tried many times to kick the nasty habit but if it wasnt available then all smokers would be forced to deal with it.

Typical of our government, hide the problem under the table. Who is that supposed to help ? All that will happen is that newsagents around the country will suffer bad backs as a result of constantly bending down for packets of cigarettes.

Unbelievable.

why not just ban fags ? oh no , the government wont do that becouse they make so much money from them.

well , what about putting alcohol under the counter too ? yea right as if they will do that , most of these politicians are tanked up on whiskey.

well if fags and booze are bad for you why are they legal ? also then why is cannabis illegal ? why not just have that under the counter too . its safer than fags and booze.(i tell you why , becouse if it was legal , you would grow it yourself and they wouldnt have anyway of taxing it)

double standards , mixed and contradicting messages , this country and those who govern it are a major joke.

here this is me laughing in there face :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

viva la revolution - down with poor leadership and half arsed government.there failing on every front imo

i think they should ban simon cowell and all his no better than a kiddy fiddler , plastic fantastic , no moral values , rob the braindead kids of all there money for manufactured talentless [Poor language removed] , pop industry , x factor bollocks.

if they ban fags then they can bring in some new tax, to replace what they wont be collecting from baccy. te new tax will of course be on something that everyone requires so that they will be collecing of everyone.

expect a heavy tax on water.on the basis of being a "green issue" obviously.

I agree it is typical of the government, it's the done thing to do something pointless to make a statement & try to make people think they're doing something when in reality the thing they're doing will achieve [Poor language removed] all. They're doing that to reduce the amount of people smoking? Will that bollocks help, people who want to smoke will do so whether the cigarettes are on the counter or underneath it, it's just a vain attempt to try to look like they're earning their money

I [Poor language removed] hate this government

All they need to do is raise the cost to a tenner a packet.

And everytime you buy some you have your id swiped (cards coming soon) and that adds to your health bar, or un health bar. Then it all goes into a big [Poor language removed] off league table that has cigarettes smoked per week and money spent.

Then all this information is than corrolated and scored upon, so if you have spent loads of money on cigarettes you don't get credit for stuff, and if you have smoked loads then you go down on the waiting list when your old and grey.

It's tough I know, but something has to be done.

well what about todays move by the government to change the benefit system ?

another example of how rubbish they are.

apparently they are trying to bring in a change to 'encourage' people to contribute to society by 'helping' them to train for jobs or do 'community work' .

encourage = force
helping = hindering
community work = work for virtually nothing and less than the minimum wage.

also , whats the point of training /looking for jobs that just dont excist in the first place.

they say that theres no need for anyone to be out of work as there are 500 000 unfilled jobs in this country.
well theres also 2 million (and rising) out of work , meaning theres 4 people going after each job.

the government , after handing over most of our powers to europe , have also taken the bottom rung and safety net of the employment ladder away by opening up our borders to cheap economic migrants.

agency staff , cleaners , shelf stackers , labourers...all these jobs are now mostly filled with cheap foreign workers.(tesco and morrisons i know for a fact have even shipped people in from poland to work in my 2 local stores)

its nice to know that our government has spent there time looking after non brits , figuring out how to make stupid laws on cigerettes and also how to demolish the welfare state rather than sorting out our economic disaster.

im expecting nationwide riots in the new year over one thing or another.
my money is on the fishermen kicking off first (another stupid goverment mess) followed closely by the trade unions.

I knew when i paid $15 AUD in England for a KFC something was seriously wrong with your country.

what does it cost to watch sport there, as i remember it was cheap compared to here at the same time.
i went to r.league at the footy stadium and ashes and one dayers, all in sydney.

in n.z. i went to the rugby which was about nz$12 (about 4 quid at the time, for super12), i went to a bledisloe cup game in c/church and it was again about £4.50. and these are probably the biggest games in their respective sports. the wallabies won btw john eales was unbeatable, it was the 1st time theyhad won it in nz.

here we are forking out £35 which is about85/90 $aud isnt it.

A League Football about $35
NRL Rugby League probably $15-$40

We'd think its pretty reasonable, but the prices you pay to see a game are amazing. Could a normal family take their kids out to watch a match nowadays?

took son to the fulham game, £35 for me £18 for him, prog, drinks, fuel, parking, prob about £70.

went to west brom £ 60 for adult & child prob about £100 in total.

a wigan s.t. gets you into rugby as well, they hate each other though and regularly have pitched battles.

a superleague s.t. for a kid is like 2 games at g.p. except they can go in any superleague game in the land(and france) so basically includes aways as they are all close to each other. think its about £40 if bought at earliest op.

football has been exploited beyond belief, as cash gets tight it'll be the ones that went on the terraces every week that still go, the fickle trend followers will stop.
