just no, there has to be a dozen better than that carthorse !!.
Plus Rooney...not a bad deal in my opinion...neither a great deal...just ok.Benteke + Siguardsson = the money we got from Lukaku.
Shame we didn't go in early on Dimata that went to Wolfsburg. Basically the same player but unproven and a lot cheaper.
Think @Armel has seen him.
He's quite similar but he has more technical ability, is fast, and can use his left and right foot (Benteke is quite useless with his left foot imo). He isn't as massive as Benteke though only 1.85, although I suppose he can still grow a bit he's only 19. He was sold for 10 million € (more expensive than Onyekuru). I am assuming that in the beginning he'll be the understudy for Gomez. For me he was the best attacker in the Belgian competition last year. I am a fan, will be watching some of his games for Wolfsburg (scored two in his first friendly; probably a weak team but goals are goals).
My favourite goal (a cup final; he scored multiple times but still lost):
This being said; Benteke would be a decent enough transfer. Hazard always says his hold-play is brilliant. He brings others into play and is a brilliant header of the ball. Just no penalties. Oh and he doesn't do good interviews.
I would like Jonas but I doubt he would come here. Not a fan of Benteke in the slightest.
I do not see a lot of difference between him and the likes of Wilfried Bony, Bafetimbi Gomis, and Salomon Rondon.
None would be of the quality that we are looking for, or worth the value of their transfer fee.
If all we are looking for is someone to play the hold up game, and also work as an active aerial threat mostly in substitute appearances why not look at guys like these which can be had for cheaper:
- Luuk de Jong (PSV)
- Anthony Modeste (Koln)
- Mario Gomez (Wolfsburg)
- Jonas (Benfica)

Get off the fence ffsHe's a donkey who's only real quality attribute is his heading ability.
He's offside that often it looks like he doesn't understand the rules.
A big lazy lump who can barely play togger with his actual feet.
Hell no.

It really isn't. I watched the lump closely last season, and he lacks desire for me, his positional sense is gash, and he's generally a crap footballer. His strength is largely from set pieces, that aside he's brainless as a striker imo. The fact that Palace would be prepared to get their dosh back says it all. He's simply not good enough. His touch is a lot better than Rom's. If we break football into the simplest of plays: Keane wins a defensive header, Morgs picks the loose ball up, threads it through to Tekers back to goal, he holds it up and then releases it out wide to Gylfi/Wayne/Ross. Benteke then ambles into the box, wide man crosses it onto his head and pings it into the corner of the goal. Rinse and repeat.
It may not be beautiful football but if you have got good exponents of it then it's very effective.
