So, to be perfectly clear, it's been posted here that twitter will report tomorrow that the club will announce his signing on Wednesday?

Well confused here now
Haha. More like Twitter is saying reports tomorrow in the media will claim Atsu will be sorted by Wednesday (I think)..

Because if they haven't agreed on Atsu yet we wouldn't currently have Lukaku training.

A bird in the hand.

or we'd have both players now....nobody else was offering Chelsea 28m for lukaku, add to that atsu wants to join us....so we had all the power....now Chelsea can and are taking the plss....

One thing I don't really get.

Wouldn't he have a work permit to play for Chelsea?

Or does he need a new one for us?

(Without looking through the rule book in detail) my understanding is that football loans are similar to secondments in the workplace... Thus although Chelsea officially remain his employer we would be responsible for him via a temporary contract arrangement and need to arrange his legal right to 'work' in the UK... So yes, but there are probably better experts on GOT than me.

Hasn't played a single minute for Chelsea, I believe. He'll have had one in the Netherlands last season for the duration of his loan.

Work permit denied.

You heard it here first.

To qualify automatically he would be required to play 75% of Ghana's competitive games in the last 2 years . My quick reckoning is he has played in 5 of their 9 games. So short there. The other route is what is called exceptional talent. In the past no problem but Dyke has put his oar in and suggested that bar for such was to be raised. So who knows.

He has never played for Chelsea and the permit is issued in the country where the player is playing. Far easier in both Portugal & Holland to get one.

Think Chelsea would have had to have one for him to sign a contract with them but I doubt he would have needed one in Holland as their employment laws are different - hence why a lot of non EU players head there first to get moves to European teams and why teams like Chelsea have links with clubs there for making such loans.

Chelsea would never have applied for a work permit for him. Whilst he will be contracted to them he has never been registered to play for them
