Just been out to Lark Lane for a nice sirloin (medium-rare, obv) and chips actually. Nice big chunky ones, [Poor language removed] knows how they were cooked, though.]

You can get some decent oven chips but I bet a chip pan is best. Just don't trust myself with one incase I torch the gaff.

Chips are ace Chico you bad tapout vest wearing gypsy.

It's cos Chico is a lard arse that he can't even look at them lads.

If you ever needed more conclusive proof a him being a Scot from Jargness though it's the condemnation of deep frying.

Aye nail on the head.

weeps*

An Essential Piece of kit imo.

Oven Chips just don't do it for me although it has to be said that Aunt Bessie plays a blinder in the Frozen Potato Produce Dept.
I'd have the proper deal with Lard in if it was completely up to me, or at least a deep fat frier with lard in, our last Deep Fat Fryer came to an unfortunate end as the Mrs put it on the Hob to take advantage of the Extractor Hood, pity she didn't think to check if the hob had been used recently as it was red hot and melted the arse out of it.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyhow, I've had enough of the Oven Chips atm & she's been eyeing up 1 of these new fangled jobbies that only take a teaspoon of oil, but ffs have you seen the price !! I could build a garage & put a full Range out of a chippy in ffs.

So, we all like chips but what have you got ?

a/ Arl Chip Pan in a similar state to Chico's Mar's pictured here

b/ Oven Chips do me lad.

c/Deep Fat Frier

d/ new 'teaspoon of fat' job.

e/ Range in the garage.

f/ we go the chippy every night lad.

go for the actifry, you can cook allsorts in it - chips, sausages, sweet potato clips, roasties, mince, bolognaise etc... well worth the extra cash, chips taste greasy but are very healthy!

Probably good spuds (something like King Edward), blanched in oil@ <130deg, then cooked off @180-190deg mate

Twice fried in beef dripping and the devil can take weight gain, smelly kitchens, and health'n'safety.

Aunt Bessie oven chips are good though when we can't be bothered though.

A foot in both camps then at Whitebootman Lodge.

i) chips from a decent chippy

ii) Old fashioned blackened round chip pan with either Lard or dripping that never gets changed, only topped up

iii) Oven chips for convenience.

decent spuds of the proper type help

way last) a deep fat fryer and some sort of healthy type oil

Tried to cook those Heston triple cooked chips a few years back and torched the kitchen. True story. Oven chips all the way for me after that episode.
