It pains me to admit it, but we've got a long way to go before making ground on Liverpool as brand name. You've only got to mention Everton out here to receive a blank stare. But mention Liverpool and everyone's face will light up.

I dont think it's a case of making ground on Liverpool. Since the late 70's onwards we have been under the shadow of them. We have our own brand and our club is much more stable financially than LFC despite how big there brand is. We dont have he money to compete with them currently but at least we are not in the kind of debt they have crept into.

Mate their debt is manageable and you can bet your bottom dollar they will invest again in the summer, and they will earn out of the CL, so don't put yourself under the illusion that we are in a financially better state then them, because we are not.

Also worth noting that clubs like Arsenal and Man U are also carrying debt, but its all relative to their income, and its a far better income than ours, despite what the club will have you believe.

Sorry but they are never in a managable status regarding their finances. They are continually borrowing form here or there and seem unable to pay it back. No business cannot run like that forever. Woolworths have been going for nearly 100 years, LFC slightly more. What i am saying is that many big clubs will eventually get to a point were things go horribly wrong. Lets hope that becomes a rallity in the RS case.

You hang on to that one then mate, but it will never happen.

Liverpool may not be getting Dubai, and they may as you say be in the financial [Poor language removed], but they are borrowing at the same rate as us to finance their side. They earn more than us and spend more than us. So they will always have better players than us in key positions because they can afford to buy them, and they can attract them.

Ive got to agree with you on that.

Another thing about the RS is its brand. Assuming the PL continues to be attractive to the rest of the world, there will probably always be brand Liverpool. It would take gross mismanagement for it to become in such a perilous state that no individuals would dare touch it with a bargepole.

Absolutely, I wonder what the Everton brand is in Liege, or Sociadad, or Jo'berg, or Lagos.

Opportunities.

Its not just the chairman who is devoid of ideas, its the [Poor language removed] rest of them too. I though that Robert Earl character was supposed to be bringing some marketing ideas to the table, love to see them.

It's not as simple as selling us to the rest of the world. The basic ingredient is success on the pitch and attractive football, top up with constant media hyping of our club will do the trick. Not appointing salesman to sell our shirt all over the world while we kept losing games all over the place back home.

You have a great point there. I admit that the club is not run very well but what happens on the pitch is what gets results and more bums on seats. Its all well and good saying we need to catch up to Liverpool's branding, the fact is we cant, but with the right management and financial backing for new players, at least that would give us the opportunity to catch up with the so-called big four on the playing side.

Moving away from the irrelevant and insignificant and completely unknown small city of Liverpool, and into the massive cosmopolitan metropolis that is Kirkby town centre, is EXACTLY what we need in order to increase our branding and maximise our marketing.

The one thing you can say about Knowsley is that it has identity.

I have been all over the world, and whenever I mention that I come from Knowsley people instantly become interested and ask me about the world famous L32 nightclub and the Booze Buster in Prescot.

What [Poor language removed] use is the small and insignificant city of Liverpool to our marketing profile, when we can market ourselves as a club from Kirkby?

Its about time we jibbed this small, insignificant city off and moved somewhere a bit more high profile, like Kirkby.

Just think how many foreigners will instantly recognise us if we move somewhere as famous and as cosmopolitan as Kirkby, the new magastore is going to be packed!!!!

Villa's stock seem to be going through the room because of that to be fair. Young and Agbonglahor - 2 young English players in awesome form are grabbing more headlines than any players in the premiership at the moment, playing good footy, winning games - even rumours of Real Madrid sniffing roung Ashley Young.

Does them no harm.

We are not losing games all over the place. We are a steady side now that is developing, both senior and academy. The ladies are flying, not sure about the Basketball crap.

Now in 2000 I went for an interview at Everton to work in their in-house design and web department. Club secretary at the time Dunford pulled the plug because they decided to outsource everything.

However, at the time of the interview they were trying to sell the club to me, now I'm a mad blue, the fact I was there was amazing for me, anyhow, they told me that Everton Football Club was in the same position commercially that Man U was in prior to them winning the title back in the early 90's. So 8 years on are we any closer to them?

Also a year later whilst working for another design company, I had to go to Old Trafford to pick up some designs from their in-house design department. So as always its utter [Poor language removed] that comes out of the mouth of the Everton executive.

my mp that lad. well in andy, you get my vote next time(y) i go the games with his p.a.'s husband, says he's had a whopping fallout with b.k. still trying to get him pissed enough to find out why, i think the i'll have to weed it out of him.
