Chatting With Steven Naismith

Aye. When he had a chance in the box, he rarely missed.

That hattrick against Chelsea was superb

Although I referenced Niasse in the interview, Naismith was twice the player. There's no way Oumar would ever pull off a hattrick against a side of that quality and in that manner.

Vastly underrated and appreciated, signed on the back of a leg break and yet he joined the blues and done a job at a significantly higher level than he was previously used to playing. Let’s not forget he was a free transfer and scored some big goals.
lets also not forgot he was utter chobb and ran the ball out of play more than boliase, and got released by norwich for not being good enough for the championship

As he was well passed his sell on date. It was obvious in his mind the toffees were the biggest team he could ever be with and imo he shone. An amazing fee was achieved and had it not been for early injury (pre Everton) we could have doubled are input, easily one of the most hardworking players you’ll see in a Beautiful Everton top.

We bought him in to partner Jelavic then proceeded to play him out wide under Moyes then off the bench under Martinez (apart from the infamous 3 number 10 formation of 14/15 which saw him out wide again). He was a good second striker in a 2 with clever movement and decent finishing. We can’t play anything other than 4231 so we didn’t get the best out of him.

He suffered a very serious injury which more or less cost Rangers the title in his last season with them (I am a Celtic supporter.)

The injury left him in a state of slight unfitness combined with the standard of the premier league more or left him in a stage of pure catch up and combined with the eccentric form of Jelavic made it near impossible for him to replicate his true natural ability.

Excellent interview. Never his biggest fan as a footballer, but the way he projected himself and the club off the pitch was second to none.
Thanks Adam.
