2025/26 Charly Alcaraz

Said before that I'd rather have KDH as a left sided number 8 in a 433, he has a natural bias towards the left channel anyway.

He isn't a natural number 10, but I maintain that apart from games where we are going to be under the cosh and where counter attacks are going to be the main source of any realistic chances where Alcaraz's attributes are useful, I'd still rather have KDH there.

Think you're being v disingenuous to say that KDH doesn't play penetrative passes. He probably doesn't try stuff as speculative as Alcaraz, but he's more effective with it. And by looking after the ball, I mean literally being able to shield it while in possession, it's a skill Alcaraz is remarkably poor at.

But again, to reiterate, Alcaraz was brilliant yesterday. His energy and drive were exactly what we needed in that situation and there will be plenty of games where that's the case.
Its good to see we can now debate over 2 very good players at our club.

Rather than debating over Harrison or Lindstrom..

Just realised why he's not played very much:

KDH is a CM by trade anyway, so it makes sense to pair him with Garner or Gueye.

Be pretty funny to watch our midget midfield too tbh.
I want to see KDH dropping deeper and partner with Gana, and Garner RB.

Then hopefully as the season goes on (especially in AFCON), we may see Rohl fit and playing in CM alongside KDH.

Of course, Gana still continues to smash it and never saying replace him but be good to rotate to keep him 100% and of course anyway when he leaves for 5-6 games.

KDH is a good player. I do not think he is a good no. 10 in most situations without a technically gifted striker or great creativity from both wings/fullbacks. I disagree with those that say he plays pentrative passes. He absolutely does not. He is very cautious with the ball. He has a good whipping cross but definitely hasn't proven to be a threader thus far.
He has created the 6th most chances in the league this season

He averages 2.2 chances created per 90 mins, Alcaraz (in his limited minutes) has averaged 0.6 per 90 mins

Granted, those figures include set pieces, but I think you're being hugely unfair on him here

KDH is a better player, but CA offers a bit more in terms of running. I wish Gana was 10 years younger as I'd love to see him sit in deep in a Kante-like role and give KDH and CA the ability to go forward.

We also have absolutely no players who run in behind so through balls isn't really something we do.

He is good and should play more regularly but - imho and I do not care what pointless stats say- he is not as effective when he starts games as he is when he comes on as a substitute. So he should be a regular player from half time or 60/65 minutes as a game changer and to finish the match.
