2024/25 Charly Alcaraz

I have my doubts Moyes fancies him. Either that or he's not committed to the transfer fee. No reason for him not to start till end of season now.
It might be that yes Moyes fancies him well enough.
But if for instance, we have say 'only' £50 to spend...which given our recent circumstances...is a relatively large amount.
Other positions may be seen as more important and Alcaraz is say 3rd or 4th in his list of positions to fill and £15M is a large chunk of your budget

~450 minutes is a small sample size and a lot of these are off the bench which will skew numbers a bit. Regardless, these are absolutely banger numbers for someone who's just dropped into the team and is still only 22.

He's also 98th (!) percentile for passes into the penalty area and 91st for carries into the final third. And still has great defensive work. The lad gets the ball into dangerous areas.

He looks a bit raw to me still but £13m for someone with output/immediate impact like that in today's market? All. Day. Think about what £13m usually gets you these days! That's worth it even if he never gets any better and remains a high-energy sub.

Is it still worth it if the 13 million could also get us a high impact starter instead?

Some surprisingly good stats there

Thought we'd have had a better look at him before deciding to allow the permanent deal to kick in. Maybe Moyes doesn't fancy him and that's why he hasn't started enough yet. It's hardly ideal to start playing him in end-of-season games when the title, european and relegation places are already sewn up.

I’m sure Moyes said something like this in a press conference after the window shut

‘We had to be mindful of FFP, there the players we were after were third/ fourth choices on the list of those we would have liked’.

I think that explains were we are with this guy. He had a chance, and I’m not sure he is doing enough to take it on the basis Moyes isn’t playing him.

But can he do it on a wet Wednesday in Stoke?

My guess is Moyes wants the final say on this, he probably hasn’t made his mind up yet and wants to sign players because he’s chosen to and not because they’ve triggered any contract clauses.

Don't think he's had that many starts to judge him yet, but you don't get much for 13m these days, as we all know and if you do it's a gamble. With Charly we know what we are getting.
13 million could've gotten a Morgan Rogers, Justin Kluivert, Youssef Chermiti or Neal Maupay. It's a mixed bag but there's definitely upgrades and downgrades at that price
Are we sure he's not a high impact starter? I certainly think he can be. Complete nonsense that we haven't seen him and Ndiaye share minutes pretty much at all.
No were not sure, and I'd like to think he gets a go before the season ends. But in the balance of probabilities I'm going with he's probably not a starter, much less a high impact one at David Moyes' Everton. We have gaping holes all over the squad and the number 10 is the one well stocked position.

Keep me right here, who are you including in our well stocked no10 position?
