Don't laugh but I was watching a game of netball on the telly this week. NZ is actually quite good at this game. What I thought interesting was that you are not allowed to run with the ball in this game. Thus getting it from defence to the attack end is performed by making accurate passes to teammates who are always on the move, always creating space by movement into areas where that space exists (ie where defenders aren't). And then I thought of how opposite to this Everton played the past season. The players off the ball were so static, not creating space and thus not creating an outlet for the pass.
Roberto should watch a game of netball, then get the Everton squad the fittest they've ever been. Because I'd like to see 90 minutes of a team with its players constantly on the move in the search for defender-free space...and you have to be super fit to enable that.
