Apart from Stones what alternatives do we have than the younger players. We will never sign some one in time for the next two games.

Overall though, Distin has been a rock for us, he's just getting past his sell by date !!

But fortunately management requires a slightly more delicate hand. It's all well and good talking drastic action, but the morale of the squad would plummet if you punted Distin and Jagielka.

Yeah good point maybe jags and stones is the way forward this season.

Can't really argue with that. Think Jagielka is essentially undroppable having been made captain, for better or worse. Those two compliment each other in that one is actually a decent defender really and will prove it if he's not left to passing duties as well, and the other is composure personified but lacks a little positionally.

Same issue with changing Captains midway through a season too. I'd imagine if there is to be a change then it'll be in the Summer, unless we ship players out and in during this window.

Not so much jags but I think distin is finished let his marker get away for there goal in the hope Naismith or besic would clear the ball

He's been responsible for at least 4/5 maybe more goals this season an it's just not good enough.

Yep. Tbh it's a bit of a precarious situation. Distin is probably in his last year and his acting like a kid but he does need moving out of the way, Jagielka isn't in form but would benefit from a run of games with Stones by his side. You've then got to try and entice a new CB without the guarantee of first team games.

I'd be surprised if we see Distin again tbh (injuries permitting). Hopefully Jags and Stones will get some games together now (something they haven't had a lot of) and get a partnership going.

I'm fairly sure we won't be bringing in a centre half until the summer though.

I'd be interested to see a breakdown of the individual errors that have lead to shots/goals this season per player. I know we top the chart as a team ahead of Arsenal this season but be interesting to see who were the most culpable.

I think that a new CB with experience would fit straight into the team alongside Stones. Did you see Jags completely misread the bounce of the ball which nearly led to a great chance from west ham? He and Distin have been making mistakes like this all season with Jags being arguably worse. I for one am not happy with this form continuing in our precarious position in the league, sort the CB's out and the whole team will have more confidence.

Our CBs seem a lot deeper this season. Last season we had a crazy high line but we seem to have gone to the other extreme. Space between the backline and midfield is staggering at times and is leading to us getting overrun regularly.
