2017/18 Cenk Tosun

Hoping to see a front four next year of;

Tosun
Lookman Gylfi Walcott

We might actually be quite good if we buy a ball playing centre mid to play alongside Gana.

The centre mids are really lacking right now, especially away from home where the energy Davies brings to the team doesn't negate the fact he isn't playing well.

I do like the look of that front four, only problem is that it's still very best of the rest. If we really want to contend with those top teams then we need a couple of quality signings this summer. Hopefully we can get ourselves into a position where someone like Tosun is a back up striker, at that point we will be in business.

I started to watch Everton games, since Cenk joined,

It is not easy to see "whats really going on" at your own team. but it is easier to see another them as an outsider.

first of all...cenk is a big team player. wth is that?

big teams dominate rivals. force them to defend. they hold the ball and play passing game. they create many chances in a game. and they use some of these chances by their quality strikers.

what is a small team? a small team mostly defends. as the oppenent is crowded on attack, their only chance is tackling or stealing the ball, make counter attacks. so these teams require athletic, fast running forwards.

you knew that oumar niasse also played at turkish league? he was a player for a small team (akhisar)

cenk had 1 chance at brighton game and scored it. top strikers in world (for ex. cristiano) scored 2 or 3 out of 10 chances. this is really a good rating.

so... "we cant score so we need a better striker" is a [Poor language removed] logic. cenk is really a top quality player. and he will score much, if he has enough chances.

But lets take Burnley game. It was really a nightmare. Cenk is not the right person for that kind of Everton, which can't hold the ball, organize attacks and defend whole game. and it is a mircale that Cenk scored that game, which shows how motivated he is....

Brighton game, there was a completely different Everton. Holding the ball, ganghoo attacking. this is really much more better than previous week. But still lacking creativity. Everton attacked whole game, but could only create just 1 chance for his striker Cenk? this is normal when you don't play towards rival and make parallel passes.

So...time to stop your doubts about Cenk since he proved himself many times at Champions League.

if you want Cenk to score 20+ next season (yes he can !!!)

- Everton needs good midfielders. At least 1 creative guy and who plays the ball forward !
- Everton needs, right and left back to do "what Baines did" last game. join the attacks and make crosses & assists.

Every players has both attacking and defending skills at big teams. So if your right back or midfielder has no significant contribution to attack, you should replace him, if you are a big team.

Everton has to decide his strategy. Will Everton play like a big team or small team.

Both works. But playing like a small team and having a big team striker? it doesnt work....

That won't change until a) we change manager and b) we get a better central midfield in place.

We have a little right back called seamus coleman who just come back from a terrible broken leg, if we can get a young flier of a LB to push and learn off baines our fullbacks should be sorted

But yeah we do need some in the middle of the park to boss the game, Rooney is still learning that role but if we could bring a other natural CM that’d be ideal

No one in their right mind is blaming Tosun, we actually play him and suddenly he starts scoring. You can’t ask for more than that.

As you noticed the issue is we aren’t a team at the moment just a bunch of individuals

I like him. Have a good feeling about him.

He doesn't seem to excel at any one particular thing, but his all round game is pretty good.

Works very hard, his movement is extremely good, strong, decent in the air, good awareness, decent with his back to goal, seems to finish well with both feet (have a look at the difference between him and DCL practising shooting in the warm ups). It's a shame he isn't a tiny bit quicker, but he isn't what I would call "slow". There were a couple of times on Saturday where he laid the ball off and then sprinted like a madman to get into the box. Loved that. He also fits the profile of the kid of striker who we traditionally have valued at Everton - a proper number 9

Calm down champion :D

I'm not someone that will try to convince you that Turkish Leauge is not wank.

If we compare with PL, sure it is wank.

But your approach about Gomis, shows a lack of football knowledge.

At my previous post, the main subject was : "Quality of striker is important. But more important point is what type of team he plays at"

Gomis is an example for that. Did you ever watch Galatasaray games this year? (sure not. why you would watch a wank league :))

Galatasaray makes 452131 attacks per game. So even you put Sam Allardyce to forward, he would score 10-15 lol

Another example. Why Robin Van Persie sat at bench last 1 year and sent back to Netherlands in da wank Turkish league? Although he is not young, he should score at least 15-20 at a wank league right? But his team was lacking of "attack mentality" and played like a small team. So they could not feed him.

Another example. Mario Gomez. He was dead when he came to Turkey. Italians were so happy to sell him. He joined a "attacking team". And scored many goals. Did a great job and carried team to championship. And he was invited back to German National Team for Euro 2016.

I can show hundreds of examples. But simply, Gomis 's performance has nothing to do with Turkish League's being wank. (whether it is wank or not) Gomis joined the correct team, at correct time. If he has joined Fenerbahce instead, he would not have scored more than 5 goals in the same wank league you see?

So... i say it again. The formula is : Correct player for Correct team.

Cenk is correct player for attacking rate. He has high % of scoring . But what was that Burnley game. No way there. Bring Ronaldo, Messi or Pele. Nothing changes.

Everton was really not playing like a big team. But it doesn't mean that "Everton not have the potential". It is legendary club, with nice squad. 2-3 "on target" transfers and change team's mentality to attack, i see Everton fighting for top 3 EPL.

(Mentality of Brighton game) + (some more attack organization) + (2-3 transfers) = Success

I see that some Evertonians lost their confidence to their team, so they even take positive criticism as insult.

Relax

Indeed Turks coming here and bad mouthing about Everton is not cool at all. They are aware of the fact that manager atm is not ideal for them and he is gonna leave soon. You guys (I'm Turk too but not blabbing about it all the time and I am not Cenk centric like you guys) should stop joining this forum just to say that. EPL is waaay ahead of Turkish league, the pitch, the stadium qualities, the refs, the broadcasting all are top notch. Besiktas had a great CL season but that doesn't mean Everton or any non-big6 teams are sh.t.

Cenk sacrificed CL to join an EPL team, that should tell something. Anyway Everton used to struggle this season, manager changes and all but now finally they seem to find the solution for Tosun and he seems super happy and proud as he told to press. Besiktas/Cenk fans really should stop coming here to create a bad atmosphere really, don't expect to see very friendly responses from Blues after harsh criticisms or biased judgments like yours. Just looking into Everton's history will do, for you to avoid stupid conclusions for the club, as a kid growing up in Turkey, I always knew Everton and the club was always next to likes of ManU and Arsenal. (not really Chelsea or M. City back then, no Russians or UAE guys to be found) Come on now guys. Have some respect, cheers to all.
