Billy McNeill was a bit of a cult hero when he came down from Scotland to manage City in 1983.
It was a strange how to do overall. He was the manager with with Jimmy Frizzell as his deputy.
However, Frizzell for some reason insisted he was 'joint manager' - all somewhat bizarre.
McNeill famously got us promoted in '85 on the back of some fabulous transfer business but results didn't go to well at the start of the following season and McNeill jumped ship to Join Aston Villa, As far as I know he is the only manager ever to hold the unique distinction of getting two team relegated from the top flight in the same season. Takes some doing does that! ;-)

'You can't really fail a medical'

Evidently you can...
Just before the 'knee injury' was announced there were rumours of another reason he failed the medical, thats why I put it as a quote, I thought someone else would have been able to elaborate a little more.

Record, so take with pinch of salt as they aren't especially big fans of Lennon
Without being pleasant to Brenda he would have improved and learnt with him.
This current incumbent will drag Celtic down.
They'll win the league no doubt but it'll be rubbish to watch.

Probably a good Job they checked,as some players dont even have a medical so the move gets completed quicker-probably IE last min on deadline day etc, imagine they signed him then found that out

I know a friend of a friend who's son is in the under 18's squad at Celtic.
Some of the stories about Lennon are ridiculous. From all reports he is a genuine
head case. The mitigating factor is that he does suffer badly from depression
and is bipolar. It makes you wonder why he does such a job? He surely doesn't
need the money so why put yourself through the wringer every week?

After his last spell it pushed him so far over I'm surprised he came through.
