So from a potential 6 points we have 0 and to top it off a goal difference of -6. Meanwhile sides like Tottenham, Manchester City and Aston Villa have already registered points. If i remember correctly last season we just managed to finish 5th...and IMO the only reason we did was because Villa ran out of steam.

Anyway im not saying its panic stations just yet, but i think something needs to be done. We may have a 4-0 advantage in the Europa league but to be honest im a little worried going to the 2nd leg the way we are playing and anyone thinks we are safe...i would debate the matter with them.

Fair enough its only two games in and it takes time to get everything running smoothly and ill take the fact we have key injuries but the "core" players of our side have been together for about 2-3 years now so there should be no excuses.

IMO i think player morale at Everton Football Club is very very low at the moment and non of us will ever know what the real story behind it is but i believe it is because of the lack of transfer activity that has happened yet again over the summer.

As i said 0 points from a possible 6 and a goal difference of -6, early in the season be as it may but we have to play catch up football now and hope the likes of Spurs, City etc slip up big time if we are gonna push for 5th again this season. 4th will be too much of mountain for us i fear...

Rant over.

Villa haven't registered any points yet either, and I don't see them getting any more against the pool tonight. imo they're in a bit of trouble. You can see the massive holes left by Barry and Laursen (who's absence imo is the main reason behind villa's catastrophic second half).

While I agree it is an abysmal start, it's probably not as bad as it seems..
We matched Arsenal for the first 30 minutes before they scored 2 belters and our heads dropped. And Burnley are looking a pretty solid unit atm.. They beat Man U at home as well by the same scoreline, (and we had a missed penalty for f's sake.) While we are definitely lacking something there's still time left in the window and we have money in the pocket now.
Confidence may be lacking, but hopefully that will change with one good win under our belts. Maybe qualifying for Europe will give the team a boost (I really can't see us letting in 5 goals against their quality..)

2 weeks from now if we're still in the same boat, no transfers and no PL wins, I'll join your bandwagon.
Save me a seat

Anyhows we have got to improve.....At least get the basics right, such as pass to a team-mate. How many times did we just give the ball away yesterday.

When we lose confidence the players get back into their individual bad habits.

Yobo hoofed all day despite Saha and Felli getting bugger all joy out of Bikey and co. When they did win a flick on we were too far away to support. Ossie was as powderpuff as I've ever seen him. I counted three occasions he was on the deck without earning a foul and Hibbo was left exposed. Cahill checked every run it seemed, like he always does in 442. Felli was unadventurous in his passing, as was Rodwell who was equally sloppy at times, and couldn't stand up to the niggly physical treatment he normally shrugs off or elbows...just a bit.

Only Hibbo, Pienaar and to an extent Baines had decent games. Neville it's unfair to judge his performance at all really.

Confidence is a real factor.

We need to get back to basics though.....I know it is an old cliche but Pass n Move is the key.
It really shows how much we miss Arteta. I just hope Rodwell's confidence isn't shot if things continue .

Absolutely right mate. I believe confidence will slowly return especially with players like Arteta and Yak close to coming back.

Gringo is right, although we won at Stoke and West Brom we were pretty poor at the beginning of last season too.
