Yeah, I went back and forth on the pellet stove versus wood stove and settled on the pellet stove about 7 years ago (as secondary heat) for environmental and other reasons (burns compressed sawdust, much more efficient, easier to use), but it kept breaking down (given all the moving parts) and doesn't work when the electricity is out, which occasionally happens where I live due to ice storms. So this past month I just replaced it with a wood stove, and to be perfectly honest I'm not so sure I like my new choice. It's certainly a better type of heat (radiant versus "cooked hot air"), but there's lots more work involved in getting/chopping wood and every time you feed new logs into it it releases bits of ash into the air. On the upside, it's not loud and it will work forever, since there are no moving parts/electronics. But I would say for smaller living spaces, pellet stoves are a far better option than wood stoves, since they don't take a high fan setting to heat up the place. In my place that has open ceileings, I had to run the blower on high, which was a bit loud.

And wow...when I joined GOT I never would have thought I would be writing about home heating in the Carlos thread to sassy Colombian!

We had a wood stove at another house before this one so my husband was quite aware of the amount of effort one has to put getting logs, chopping it and getting a fire going after being away and the house being super freezing cold, the reason why he really wanted a pellet stove in addition to the environment aspect of it. However, I really how loud they can be and the "cooked hot air", our stove has a setting to plug into the wall and the only time we have lost power were still be able to make use of it by plugging it into a yeti 400 solar power generator that we purchased a few years ago. That generator has been a great purchase, we take in our camping trips and charge everything we need with it. Anyway, If I had to do it all over again I may go for the wood stove. Yours looks very cozy.

Ha, you are right. I would have never thought when joining this football forum that I was going to be discussing a whole array of topics. I have been happily surprised about this that happening at GOT. And I couldn't be more grateful that @carlos21 allows us to have this chatting on his thread.

It has been a busy day. I'm about to drive to my mom's for the afternoon. We are going to have dinner there so you may not hear back from me for a while. But I will be back before you go to sleep
