First as I agree with the theory:A trophy is a trophy and it might seem a pointless cup compare to the more traditional F.A. Cup!

But winning it get us a trophy, a ticket to next year UEFA Cup, although winning this season UEFA would automatically get us into next season UEFA Cup (Unless qualify in CL)!

Now we are down to last 8 and all Premiership encounter for the rest of the competition, we might not be facing the best team from 3 of the Big 4 in this round and next if we pick to play with them!

Let's say we had young Gunner in the next round, and by beating them would certainly proof our squad is getting stronger, they may be young but they are all pretty much ready to step up to the 1st team for Arsenal when they are call upon, so beating the near future Arsenal 1stXI would do us nothing but good!

Bottom line is I certainly find it worth while to win this year Carling Cup!

With the squad we have now we should be able to put out a reasonable team in all tournaments, but the league is our bread and butter and we can't afford to fall behind, and then it's the UEFA Cup, for me. I certainly wouldn't be resting players in league or EUFA games to help our Carling Cup run, but I'd still like us to put out the best side that is practicable which means not giving 'fringe' players a game simply for the sake of it.

I crave a trophy. I was too young to really remember the 95 Cup Final. The Carling Cup final and a day out at Wembley will do for me (y)

Agree with the comment about Stubbs, when he gets the ball his sole strategy does seem to kick it as far as he can upfield, no finesse or thinking.

As for Gravesen, still not convinced about bringing him back, the way he was mixing it in a previous game with their players makes me wonder if he is trying to take on the Ferguson mantle.

I think he's been sitting on the bench listening to people chanting his name and has gotten a little bit carried away with it all, and he was never the calmest character to begin with. I can't fault his effort, but I don't think charging around trying to win the game single-handedly is a typical Moyes tactic. Maybe he'll learn, but at 30-odd I doubt it.

Thee only reason I would like to win it is because r/s keep saying if its a micky mouse cup where does that put you never having won it,so lets win it once then on for bigger things(y)

It's the rs's best chance this year, so it would be nice to deprive them of it. Let's wait for the draw ...

Of course we should go for it. It might just be a smaller cup, but it would mean another season in Europe... and we are only 3 games away from it... perhaps two. Don't know if the looser in the LC-final will get the european slot if the winner of the final qualifies for the CL or europe by leaguefinish.

I dont really think the big teams are serious about winning the cup....besides we've drawn WHAM whom we have a really good chance of beating.......I'd rather we qualify for europe via the cup...this way we could concentrate on europe too.......(y)

i go on another message board and the reds on there dont like it called a mickey mouse cup infact i call it that just to wind em up lol

not sure if anyone has mentioned this but we have never won the league cup so thats a good reason to go for it
i think it could be our best chance of europe again too as its going to be tough to get top 6 this term
and think what the players would think of an open top bus ride. i might just keep the likes of arteta and cahill happy. to be honest i dont see cahill moving on anytime soon but i do worry about arteta leaving
