If it would give him a boost in confidence and inspire him to up his game, then Barkley.

Local lad, would mean the world. Albeit not the most outspoken player, but who is really?

Have no captain for the game. Tell them that because none of them have any leadership ability it is impossible to have a captain.

If they resent and react and try to prove the manager wrong then great.

If they sulk it simply proves the point. Clough would try something like that. I certainly would.

yeah but clough was a bellend

Presuming Barry and Coleman are out, it has to be Baines. Jags is not a leader, nor is McCarthy - I'd give it to Mirallas before either of them!

The suggestion of Barkley as captain is interesting though, and worth considering in the context of a cup semi-final at Wembley. Something feels right about it.

Having said all that, Martinez will deffo give it to Cleverly or Kone.

Tony Hibbo bleeds Blue

Factoid. Hibbo hasn't AFAIK been playing / not subbed when we've had a penalty shoot out (checked to see if he was ever potentially in line to take one). Can you imagine 10-10. De Gea misses and up steps Mr AJ Hibbert.
