most ridiculous statement, how many people have had a beer and go absolutely manic and paranoid to the extent they fear for their life? I work in a psychiatric unit and the pretty much every patient has issues as a result of drugs, in particular cannabis, even sometimes just one smoke is enough to prove that keeping it illegal is the right thing.

There is a definite link between mental health issues, most notably schizophrenia and cannabis use. The evidence isn't strong because very few people just smoke cannabis. E.g they will have smoke cigarettes, done a bit of alcohol etc... so it's very difficult to attribute it to just cannabis use.

Yes people smoke, but of those that smoke I'd say about 10/15% that I know do weed, in no small part because of the fact it is illegal. Society dictates that weed is bad, this in turn means fewer people do it. Legalise weed, those stats will rise, the number of people doing it will increase, maybe even to the level that pretty much everyone that smokes will smoke weed just as much as they do cigarettes. This will in turn mean people with mental health issues will increase as a result.
Is there not an argument though that if it's legalised it can be regulated in terms of THC levels etc to lower the risk of it causing mental health issues?

Only trouble is, actual evidence from places where it has been legalised or decriminalised suggests otherwise.

Its not for everyone, you find out if its for you if its not you should leave it alone. If it is then carry on as you please.

There are a minority that it has adverse effects on, most are perfectly sane before ,during and after taking it IMO.

Im sure the lads tellin the truth, its just that while most people he meets have had a smoke, they neglect to tell the head doctors about the battery acid they have been snorting for the last 15 years.

My best mate took it once, he went mad off his head and had to sleep with a knife under his pillow for fear of people coming to kill him. Social smoker and drinker, no acid. But yeh apart from that youre spot on.

Assume youre a user?

Not on the same level as your beloved beer when it comes to potential problems caused.

Not. Even. Close.

I would disagree but different strokes for different folks. But both cause problems, yes. If I have a beer however, the vicinity doesn't then stink of pot for ages.

But each to their own. I don't mind people smoking weed, I just don't want to smell it.

Equally dangerous to drive under the influence of, though.
