TBf, the americans have a much bigger part in cricketing history than people imagine.

The worlds very first international cricket game was between the USA and Canada.

And more recently the USA has helped a lot with India's rise to local dominance by killing as many potental pakistani cricketers as they could.

The commentators/pundits are so good they can keep the listener interested/amused even when play is stopped for lunch/tea/rain. And they know what they're talking about, unlike the football commentators who tend to be self opinionated ignoramuses.
